I don't really want to have axels voice or any thing i'm just confused about something...... I was listening to him talk in an interview and he has a pretty low and deep voice and i have no idea how he can talk so low and sing so high... How does axl sing like that is there a certain technique? Thanks for any help

Axl has a very good range, but for the kind of vocals in AFD he uses falsetto. If you want to know what falsetto is try speaking like mickey mouse, thats falsetto. Check out vocalist.co.uk for info on falsetto.

I think Axl didn't need vocal training. He sings from his heart and intution in his 'natural' voice.

The voice you hear on most GnR records is not really what I would call a natural singing voice. He's really singing from the back of his throat and using his diaphram to sqeeze a bit more power through his throat.A kind of falsetto but not a complete falsetto if that makes sense. If you listen to songs like "patience" then you can hear his natural voice which sounds like a completely different person not just a quieter version of his high voice.eg.when you hear Elvis singing it does'nt matter if he's belting out supicious minds or singing love me tender it still sounds like Elvis because he uses his natural voice.

Hope that makes sense as I do have a tendancy to ramble when I get going!

Cheers

Bob.

Ah, no, Axl's singing coach was on TV in the UK a few years back in the build up to the Freddie Mercury tribute concert.

I heard a story about him complaining backstage at the mtv awards about how his voice was too raspy to go on, whilst he was chainsmoking and drinking vodka.
lol I'm suprised that his singing coach didnt go insane.

Singing from your heart and in your natural voice has nothing to do with vocal lessons.
