No, the topic is not a comment on my singing. Since I've been commenting on other posters' singing, it's only fair that I offer the chance to comment on mine. I did post one other song under "Hear here," but was not specifically looking for a singing critique there.

No takers? And I see you checked your Soundclick yesterday.

Well, it's very sweet, and you don't need help, just a little critique, if that's what you're looking for, and it helps us singers. 8)

So, you're in the falsetto register - I don't know if that is intentional, or inherently "you". Good to read this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falsetto

Just my opinion, I don't see the need for as much falsetto or vibrato as you are adding to the song, and your vowel shaping seems to come more from your mouth, than larynx. Try using the larynx as much as you can, and coincidentally - that very part of the singing anatomy is mentioned above. We want to avoid warbling or mouthing the words too much. I'm not a pro or a singing coach, but darn it all, my Mother made me sing since I was 5.

Watch your air or breathing, relax and control it, it's a tricky song, but you can do it, breathing at the right spots. You could also shorten the sustain or elongation of many of the long vowels at the end of lines or stanzas, and add a little sustain elswhere in the middle of sentences, instead of rushing to the next word, but that only happened once or twice. :D

Blue Jay, interesting comments. I'm still pondering some of them.

I know that I may have used a bit too much vibrato for this type of song. Chalk that up to voice lessons and years in choirs, which taught me a more classical style of singing. Not necessarily a good style for popular songs, so I'm working on that.

You really lost me on the falsetto. I know that some women supposedly have a falsetto range, but I've personally never heard it and think it's pretty rare. My voice is soprano and I sang this song in my normal range.

Thanks for the feedback.

You're welcome, and I can be all wrong about the falsetto, should have thought, and said vibrato.

Now I see that it is your classical training, as you say, applied to a simpler, more down-to-Earth song? :D

You probably know all of this, but it's still here for the taking, for anyone interested, while still keeping it simple and genre-appropriate.
