I felt a slight change in my voice recently so thought I would re-record a song, I'm reasonably happy with it, but thought I would ask for your opinions...
Mainly on the voice of course, I did the guitar in one or two takes quickly so I could get to the vocals, so the timing is slightly off in places.
Anyway its the top one on my Overplay account 'No-one But I...':

For some reason it seems to sound better with headphones to..... anyone know why?

You're good! I have no issues with your voice. That would be a compliment and makes your music appealing to the majority of listeners and a wide-ranging audience IMHO.
I know you are unique and we appreciate that, but the genre which is good, reminds me of "Sam Roberts meets The Barenaked Ladies", which I like incidentally. Just a comparison, my opinion only.
Why does it sound better through the headphones, you ask? Well, I listened to 3 of your songs, and once or twice the voice dropped out a bit, but this is by far the best. I still need to hear some of the lyrics more clearly in places.
Example of lyrics being heard, again to me and my ears or frequencies, also I may be biased, since I get distracted by the good guitar playing. But if you have time, compare to these videos, and take heart. Your voice is excellent, definitely.
All is well, but you could mix or push the vocal/lyrical clarity and/or enunciation up a notch, in just a few areas. :D

I actually have a slight lisp in my talking voice so I think maybe sometimes I sing round words to avoid its sound coming through. But I will definately take that into considerations.
And the links you made are fantastic, so thank-you for that.
And forgive my stupidity... but why does it sound better through the head phones again? I wasn't totally sure whether you answered that question lol :).
