Hey guys,
I finally got round to recording a couple of ideas I had for songs, there only really rough as i don't have much in terms of recording equipment.

If you guys have time to listen i'd really like some input on my singing. I find it hard to sing higher than a certain point without losing control of my tone, so any tips/constructive criticism would be great!

Thanks,
Nath

Very nice stuff! Your sound is really good, with a solid acoustic arrangement and nice songs.

Your voice is fine. Your lack of good recording gear in fact seems to work in your favor: Your voice is relatively untreated--not much(if any) reverb or other effects--and you sing on your voice (not breathy or nasally). Very good tone as well.

You remind me of Thom Yorke!

Best,
Jersey Jack

I'll pretty much second that. Only took a quick listen to the first half of the first track, then most of the second one. You've got some nice guitar parts going on there, and the vocals are easy to listen to and natural sounding (i.e. not forced, not hesitant on any notes, not nasally, etc). If I was to offer advice, it'd just be a general development thing of experimenting with phrasing/emotion. I think, from what I've heard, you've got more emotional range than I've heard, but how much you use that and where/how you use it is up to you.

Good work in all, props fam. :D

Thanks a lot guys. Thats really great to hear! And i do agree, i'm only just starting to find my voice so I don't think i'm fully using it to what I want to yet... But thanks so much for the encouragement.

Yeah I think your right. My voice has changed quiet a lot since i started singing though so i hope to keep improving it until i really find a 'sound' that I'm happy with. Thanks again :)

I should probs clarify....I wasn't saying you have to develop a wider emotional range, I just figured it'd help to suggest ways to move forward in your practise/keep experimenting with things and that was the main thing I picked up on as everything was pretty together. like I said, its a matter of personal taste.

I think everything there is to be said has been...

I love music that can actually change my mood, and you've pulled that off. Good voice, and it will only get better. Good luck.

Hey I like your voice. Nice and full and on key. I also like the fast stumming guitar with your voice. Richie Havens sound. I'd like your opinion on my voice on this tune... http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=1099028&t=2058

Hey there,
Many thanks for the comments Freaktag. I enjoyed listening to your song, very impressive production on it. The vocals have almost a Beetles sound to them IMO, what I really liked is that you seem to have your own style; that is that you seem to have found your own voice, and know how to use it. Breathing sounded really under control, as did your pitch. It seems like you know your voice very well, and makes it sound effortless which is perfect for this kind of relaxed rock.

I liked the point at 2.56, where you say "Yeah thats right" it showed a little bit of venom, suggested to me that theres a hidden emotion range there. Overall very very good, well done! If i had to offer any advice I would just say keep going the way you are, maybe build on the emotional range as hinted... But in all honesty I think you could be teaching me some things :D.

Keep on singing,
Nath
