Just a question about breathing correctly. When I breath out instead of in (with my diaphragm) is it normal to be able to get more air by breathing incorrectly? Like when I breath with the diaphragm fully, I can still breath incorrectly after that (upwards with my shoulders and chest) and get even more air. Is this normal? Or should I be able to get as much air into my lungs by breathing the correct way? Is practice necessary over a long period of time?
Thanks in advance
If your posture is correct this shouldn't be so. If you are collapsed over onto your diaphragm, you won't be able to take as full a breath. As you straighten out your diaphragm will be able to expand more, but your shoulders have nothing to do with it. Keep in mind though that you needn't always take in an absolutely full breath, just enough to support whatever you want to do.
