Hi just wondering if anyone can recommend any good sources (books/video's websites etc) for starting out on slide guitar.

Really looking for something basic here starting with alternate tunings a few basic songs/riffs to cut my teeth on.
Possibly also a little history on slide and good listening sources to hear how its done.

Sorry it's a pretty broad question, hope you can help. :D

There are a bunch of places literally at your fingertips:

I like the DVD's by Bob Brozman, although they assume at least some basic musical background

This is barely scratching the surface.

If you want to just get started on some basic slide tunes, I'd recommend the Stefan Grossman video, "Bottleneck Blues Guitar." It has some basic blues that all slide players should know.

If you want detailed instruction on technique, go with the Bob Brozeman set.

If it ain't true, it ain't blues.
