Can't be worse than my attempt to figure out Donnegan's Gone.
Please try :)

I'll look forward to checking that out when I get home. Don't have sound here.

Sounds really good, TP! :D

Try lightly touching the strings "behind" the slide, toward the nut, with your spare fingers. Drag 'em along as you slide. Mutes out the vibration from the section of the strings between the slide and the nut. You can hear it making a "counterpoint" to your music, going down in pitch when your slide note is going up. Sometimes it's cool to let that ring. Sometimes you want to keep it quiet. Too much can muddy things, especially on an electric with the gain up. Try it both ways, and you've got another variable to play with! Listen to slide records and sometimes you'll hear that counternote, sometimes it'll be very cleanly muted out. Maybe on different tunes by the same player, maybe at different times in the same tune. Some folks never mute it, and some always do. It's an element of your style.

It's tough right now, if I play holding the guitar like a guitar the pain shoots thru mywhole wrist, if I play like a lap steel with it layed across my lap and use my middle finger behind the slide it sends pain thru the back of my hand. I know I need to rest it but I can't stand not playing.

Sounds like you have it to me. That muting bit can be tricky, if you try to hard at it. It seems to just finally come by itself.

Definitely take care of that wrist.

I was supposed to have a back stage pass to see Johnny Winter next month and just found out he had to cancel because of surgery for carpal tunnel. Just thought I'd mention that so you know you're not alone with the wrist/hand problems.

Missing a bit of playing now might give you years of extra playing down the road.

If it ain't true, it ain't blues.
