Hi everyone
When I wrote this song this is how I sort of wanted it played and sung with only one BUT ....
That would be "PLAYED AND SUNG ALOT BETTER ..."
Ok Ok I wasn't going to record myself as I listen to my recordings and dead set I want ear plugs , so I take no respnsability for hearing impairment whilst you listen to me . This is your last chance to click onto another writters song ...
My Protest Song
When you close your eyes at night time
Do you close your mind as well
And when you dream your dreams sometimes
Are your thoughts there to sell
Your politically correct speeches
Dressed in fine fancy clothes
Are your words trying to reach us
For our minds are never closed
We may not all be educated
At school some did fail
Your theories will be debated
In our homes and our jails
ADDED BRIDGE
Dam your taxes Dam that scale
Don't push us further you will fail
I pay my taxes and I vote
You'll become an international joke
We're not impressed by arrogance
Your deeds are worth much more
With all your style and elegance
Remember we can show you the door
When you close your eyes at night time
Do you close your mind as well
And when you dream your dreams sometimes
Are your thoughts there to sell
==============
Paul , Vic , Neil ,
I did this after so much you guys have told me over the last couple months , and Paul knows why I want to get better at this playing and singing game now .....
So I know I am never going to sing in operas or play at Maddison Square Gardens or Albert Hall .. I limited my singing to talking most of the way through this but thats what I feel comfortable doing ....
I know it will be a big ask to enjoy it so if you just limit your distain for this to a minimum please ...
Trevor
Oh Richie makes a guest appearence at the begining
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Barnabus
It works very well talking most of it through instead of singing this piece, however I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of when it comes to singing it. We are here because of a dream and this is a safe place to practice and share our dream. I like what you have so far..so keep it up..singing and all
Blessings
Olav

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Thanks Pete
I just wish it sounded the way I have in my head
Trevor
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
See, you have me beat. I can't even sing well in my head!
"There won't be any money. But when you die, on your death bed, you will receive total conciousness. So, I got that going for me. Which is nice." - Bill Murray, Caddyshack ~~ Michigan Music Dojo - http://michiganmusicdojo.com ~~
I'm going to use that word again......POTENTIAL - this is potentially an excellent song, as it stands it's not bad at all.....
I like the MP3, it's a bit rough, but so what? You got the point across, and that's the main thing......
You could use a few tweaks here and there, but there's nothing major needs altering, and some lines brought a smile to this jaded old face....
"Dam your taxes Dam that scale
Don't push us further you will fail
I pay my taxes and I vote
You'll become an international joke
We're not impressed by arrogance
Your deeds are worth much more
With all your style and elegance
Remember we can show you the door
When you close your eyes at night time
Do you close your mind as well
And when you dream your dreams sometimes
Are your thoughts there to sell "

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)

I 'm glad that you enjoyed my Bridge and added verse then closing with my chorus , When I become a better player my MP3's might get a bit better { One thing I am working on} ....

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
I think you should call it the "Talkin Fine Fancy Clothes Blues."
Maybe there could be something instead of the phrase "international joke." I can't explain why, but for some reason it seems to not fit with the rest of the song. Overall though I think it's a great song.
