Hey, I,m new here. I,m 47 and started writing songs this year(better late than never). I mostly write blues tunes and i record them on my 4 track tascam and put them on sound click just for fun, i can't sing and play that good but the dogs seem to like it.
I found the sunday songwriters club and it sounded like a good idea, sooo
this is what i came up with, it called cyclone blues.
CYCLONE BLUES
LOVING YOU IS LIKE A CYCLONE
STORM FORCE TEN ON THE NEWS
LOVING YOU IS LIKE A CYCLONE BABE
STORM FORCE TEN ON THE NEWS
I'M HOLDING ON WITH BOTH ARMS
I GOT THE CYCLONE BLUES
YOUR LOVE IS LIKE A TYPHOON
DON'T KNOW WHERE ITS HEADED TO
YOUR LOVE IS LIKE A TYPHOON
DON'T KNOW WHERE ITS HEADED TO
YOUR LOVE IS LIFTING ME LIKE THE WIND
I GOT THE CYCLONE BLUES
YOUR LOVE IS LIKE A TWISTER
I'M CHASING AFTER YOU
YOUR LOVE IS LIKE A TWISTER BABE
I'M CHASING AFTER YOU
YOU FLIPPED ME LIKE A TRAILER
I GOT THE CYCLONE BLUES
YOUR LOVE IS LIKE A RIPTIDE
I'M GETTING CARRIED AWAY
YOUR LOVE IS LIKE A RIPTIDE BABE
I'M GETTING CARRIED AWAY
YOUR LOVE IS PULLING ME UNDER
I GOT THE CYCLONE BLUES

Hi smokindog, and welcome.
I love the blues, so I don't know that I can be too objective here. But what you have is very good. It fits perfectly with your standard 12 bar blues pattern. And the imagery is right on. I had a gander at your website too, and I like it. I've been trying to get my wife to let me hang "Dogs playing poker" in the living room for 16 years, still no go. but I digress. The song is great, and welcome, and I look forward to reading more of your work.

Thanks for the reply, i appreciate the kind remarks. My wife won't let me hang the poker dogs up ether. I have most of my songs (original material) on soundclick.com If you like, go to the site and just type in bluezers in the look up and you should get to my page. Smokindog and the bluezers is sort of my alter ego. I play all the instuments and try to sing the best i can, but i think i will keep my day job. I just started doing this this year(writing songs). Some folks play bad golf, this is what i do.
I look forward to the next assignment---ken.
nice blues tune, smokindog
its kind of fitting you should first post in week 47 :P
welcome aboard.

I'll just echo what scratch said...I love the blues, and this fits the assignment nicely........and welcome!!!

hey dog, (said like randy johnson of "american idol", sorry couldn't help myself, it must be the lack of sleep)
it is nice to see someone writting the blues. takes some real talent to write a song and have so few words to do it in. YOU FLIPPED ME LIKE A TRAILER this is my favorite line, i thought it was so funny.
fun little song here. it is nice to have a new person join our little family here.

8) 8) Thanks for the encouragement! My inspiration comes largly from the old blues men like Willie dixon, The three kings and of course the late, great John Lee Hooker( the greatest bluesman of them all) :D The blues is a great genre to work in because you have a limited amount of verse to apply and this keeps you on track and focused. I think in some ways it makes it easiar. looking forward to next week!
THE DOG-LOL
if any one is interested, i posted a demo recording on soundclick of this tune-just click on my web site. It would be cool if we had a place to post our recordings and rough sketches , even if it's just a rough recording into a cassette tape, just to give every one a idea of what we have in mind with our songs :D :D Just an idea  --the dog
