Packing My Bags
I was packing my bags when the phone rang
I was leaving, going to do my own thang
I was moving real slow
had no place to go...
When I picked up the phone, it was you on the line
you said, can you bring back some wine
and pick up a paper please
We'll need some juice for the morn
you know I like orange
I hope you have found your keys
Well, I thought my heart was a-breakin
but i was mistaken
you say you still love me
now my hearts not a-breaking no more
no, my hearts not a breakin no more
I unpacked my bags as fast as I could
Ran to the store like a good lover would
Things will be like they're been
Now I'm happy again
you said, can you bring back some wine
and pick up a paper please
We'll need some juice for the morn
you know I like orange
I hope you have found your keys
Well, I thought my heart was a-breakin
but i was mistaken
you say you still love me
now my hearts not a-breaking no more
no, my hearts not a breakin no more
I love it. It was you on the line can you bring back some wine. That's great.
I love how the caller is so casual but it means so much to the one being called.
Pearl ,
Great writing , very nice indeed ...I like it
I was reading it and for some reason I kept hearing " Jet Plane " by John Denver ....
One for the Pearl keeps file I think
Well done
Cheers
Trev..
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
I love it. It was you on the line can you bring back some wine. That's great.

That's exactly the impression I got, too - so if that was meant to be the point of the song, job done!
I'll be interested to see what kind of music you put to this......
"I was leaving, going to do my own thang" comes across as 70's soul music - Barry White or Sly Stone.
"When I picked up the phone, it was you on the line
you said, can you bring back some wine
and pick up a paper please
We'll need some juice for the morn
you know I like orange
I hope you have found your keys" - this part's more Dylan/Joni Mitchell/Joan Baez, ie 60's folk/rock......
"Well, I thought my heart was a-breakin
but i was mistaken
you say you still love me
now my hearts not a-breaking no more
no, my hearts not a breakin no more" - pure C&W, I could see Hank or Patsy Cline doing that!
Interesting mix of genres - what have you been listening to lately!
:D :D :D

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
haha! i saw this as sort of a "parody" song. the beginng would be melodramaticly sad. Maybe a big strum of a d minor chord at the beginning. then you'd find out that it was really a happy song and it would be all fast fingerpicking....unfortunately i can't do the fast fingerpicking so i don't know yet what i'll wind up with as far as music.
Nice
Sometimes it's the simplest thing that matter most.
