The quote i decided to use was from the movie Sin City."“This is blood for blood and by the gallon. These are the old days, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days. They're back! There's no choice left. And I'm ready for war.†Marv from Sin City
Goin back to the forgetful crimes
You had to try me
Just had to mess with my mind
The will of the gladiator
My spirit can't be broken with time
One girl full of compassion
One Bed lies full of devastation
The streets run red with the blood of many
One Man driven by judgment
One atonement to make right
I have no choices left this is war
Climbing through the deceitful rats
Making my way to justice
I've waited for the days to come back
This is blood for blood
Gallons spilled on my last attack
One girl full of compassion
One Bed lies full of devastation
The streets run red with the blood of many
One Man driven by judgment
One atonement to make right
I have no choices left this is war
My heart racing
My vodka chasing down the pills
To keep me sane
To keep alive the thrill.
All I need now
One strike to end it all.
All I can give now
One attack before I fall.
and if i trip
i will crawl back to the race.
if i stumble
i will return to this pace.
you better hope
i'm dead while i'm down
cause if i get back up
i'll smash every feature of your face
One girl full of compassion
One Bed lies full of devastation
The streets run red with the blood of many
One Man driven by judgment
One atonement to make right
I have no choices left this is war
I slayed the demons
Made the deceased innocent
And laid waste to everyone else
it's so hard to fall asleep knowing the devil is watchin u die
But as I'm forced to watch from the back of my eyes
I see the pain and suffering of the tragedy die
Got Metal?
hi spug
Well there is plenty of imagery here any way ..
My main concern is the length of some verses , some are long some are short I would like to see them more uniform myself ...
One girl full of compassion
One Bed lies full of devastation
awesome stuff there
hilch
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Hmm - I dunno where to start....
I haven't seen the Sin City movie yet, when I hear "Sin City" I think AC/DC - which may not be what you have in mind.....
The chorus:
One girl full of compassion
One Bed lies full of devastation
The streets run red with the blood of many
One Man driven by judgment
One atonement to make right
I have no choices left this is war
makes me think of U2......
As Hilch said, you've crammed it choc-full of imagery....it certainly reads well....what I would like to know is how do you see this musically? I can see it in a hard rocking style, until the last chorus - then slowing down a little for the next three lines, and slowing down almost to a crawl for the last three - and I can almost hear them whispered....
Very interesting song, lots of possibilities!
:D :D :D

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
Hey spug,
This is a pretty full on song, I cant see how this could be anything other than a hard rocker. I really like the bridge; you could really punch those lines out in rapid fire, as Vic says there are lots of possibilities here well done.
Paul
Thanx for the comments everyone. If you havn't seen Sin City go right now and rent it. My favorite movie.Everything I write is typically a hard rock fashion. This one is no exception. I love the idea of hard hitting verses with melodic chorus. I"m thinking more of a Coal Chamber sound to this. So for those of you who don't know of them think of early Nu Metal music and that's it. The verses go along with Marv's story in the movie. He starts out knowing what he has to do, but then as it goes on he falls deeper into his own psychosis and starts to question and ramble on. That's what the 3rd verse is trying to symbolize. Then the last two verses are more soft spoken/whispered. This has to do with the end, which I won't ruin for ya. Well there ya have it. thanx again for the feedback.
Got Metal?
Spug,
Funny how Sin City conjures so many images.
For me it's always Gram Parson's Country Rock
classic and Las Vegas
But back to your song. Very good job and you sure can
paint a vivid picture.
The way you described the arrangement is almost
exactly what I was hearing as I read it.
John
Hi Spug
Not aware of the movie but the song paints a vivid picture of what to expect. Never doubted that this would be anything other than hard rock the lyrics suit that style very well.
Like the idea of a softer end - lends the piece an introspective aspect.
Good stuff
Bob
You are what you eat, eat well
This was deffinitely a fine piece of writing. As everyone else has already mentioned, great imagery. Make sure you play this one loud!
Keep it up!
There's a thin fine line between hate and rage.
Now watch the line be crossed and break!
