First, thanks Nick for the neat numbering system. I stole it from ya. 4.2 That is lots easier.
This has been my worse week since my mother died when I was 12. The picture if of her. I based my inspiration on her because she is the one that guided my spirituality when I was a boy. That is something I am trying hard to lean on this week.
This is very much a rough draft but I wanted to get it in before my normal Saturday, queak it in, kind of thing. I will be posting an MP3 soon.
Thanks
Geoo

Promise Land
In the quiet early morning
The stillness of the night
A young boy weeping softly
for his mother who had died
And just then in an instant
her spirit takes him by the hand
And whispers to him softly
I'll show you the promised land
Through my daily journeys
I've fallen now and then
She always helps me stand up
Start walking once again
I've never claimed perfection
or said I've done no wrong
But with every mis-stepped moment
She helped to lead me home
Now as a grown man
Children of my own
A better understanding
of my spirit and my soul
I know its the lord that leads her
And takes her by the hand
He takes me by the other one
towards the promised land
-------------------------------
May he guide me always.

Hey Man you made me cry.
She was a pretty lady and it sounds like she
gave you a lifetime of Learning in those 12 years.
I might make one suggestion thoughThrough my daily journeys
I've fallen now and again
She always helps me stand up
Start walking once again
In this part you Rhyme again with again.
Maybe if tried something like:
"I've fallen now and then"
Just a thought
John

Ok i absolutly love it but my only problem with it is this( and this is jsut my opinoin ) i thnk it is more like a poem than a song, granted it doesnt have music yet but on first read that is the impression i get. I think it would be an amazing piece of poetry and i can tell it is truly heartfelt and inspired, beautifully written. a great job well done otherwise
until next time

I think thats cause I was trying to leave out a chorus just to be different but after trying to put music to it, it sounds like a hymnal. I think I will work on a chorus.. but its going to be tomorrow.

You bet.. that flatters me everytime.. as long as people credit my part in it.. I would nearly always say go with it.

geoo, this was just amazing. The only thing I can think of mentioning is already suggested by John. Other than that, I thought this was great! Looking forward to hearing it, both yours and beans.

Nothing much to add except I pretty much agree with everyone else...tried it out in DGand A, it does have a gospelly feel to it, but I played about with a couple of minor chords and it sounded more bluesy...tried fingerpicking, it sounded different again....you've written a song that could be done in a lot of different styles, I'll be interested to see how it turns out....
