You know how things just suddenly jump out and say "write me!"
Line by Straycat. Opening verse by Celt
Laura sang about you, the other day, on the radio
She sounded sad and so blue, the other day, on the radio
How could you tell her those lies
Make her believe and then say goodbye
She swore that every word was true
Laura sang about you
Laura swore about you, yesterday, on the radio
Swore and turned the air blue, yesterday, on the radio
Said that you made her so angry
Used and abused and unhappy
She swore that every word was true
Laura swore about you
Laura talked to your wife, today, on the radio
Told her about your life, today, on the radio
Every sordid detail
A very interesting tale
She can prove every word is true
Oh boy did she talk about you

Great song you made out of this, Alan! So well-written that it basically sings itself :D
Love how you kept a structure, but used "swore" instead of "sang" or how you kep the "blue" with a different spin on it in the second verse. As I am fond of such phrases, I congratulate you on the "oh boy" in the last line, too :D
Just one question- "the other day" is the same as "yesterday", right? (so it's not like each verse is about a different day, right?)
Although I didn't think Laura would be like this, I am very glad to see how well this turned out :D :D :D
Thanks to John and you!

Oh, and is there any chance of a recording?

When I was a kid I was always taught that "the other day" was the day before yesterday, so that's what I went with. That means, from my perspective, each verse is about a different day.
Recordings- maybe. I have the gear but time always complicates things. I'll try and squeeze in some time with it at the weekend.
Go on then, spill the beans - who is Laura?
A :-)

Well, either way, the days work for me.
Can't spill any beans about Laura, was just a feeling, but doesn't mean I don't prefer your Laura
Cheers,

Well Done Alan,
I too like the way you went6 through the days and would enjoy hearing a recordiing.
When I wrote the verses I had music in mind for each one but never got back to
record any of it. It would be very interesting to see what direction you took.
John
Very nice, Alan.
My favourite part is the comeuppance in the end. (I too did this verse of John's and as much as I wanted to, I couldn't come up with some good comeuppance. :)) Although, the "one the radio" part when talking to the wife didn't quite click in my mind.
All four of us (Anne, John, yourself, and myself) will have to record a version of the way we heard the song and compare.
