Grew up to the Beatles, All you need is Love
Wore out that old forty-five learning all the words
Played it over and over in my room late at night
Til my mother's wrath I heard

Love the music, love the song
sit and listen all night long
sometimes got to sing along
Love the music, love the song

Found out who Clapton was the year I turned Twenty-one
Switched jobs five times the year that Grandpa died
I heard the Unplugged version
Tears in Heaven and I cried

Love the music, love the song
sit and listen all night long
sometimes got to sing along
Love the music, love the song

(?another verse :?: )[/img]

"Da*n your bolt-brained bearings!" Rod Gallowglass to his faithful, epileptic robot, Fess.

"As you wander through life, wherever you go, keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole." -- Paul Osteen (brother of Joel Osteen)

Hi Mikeo

I have only one gripe with this ..

I heard the Unplugged version

I personally would like that line to be about your grandpa

It then gives the listener 2 lines about Eric and 2 lines on your Grandpa

Off the top of my head and please don't be offended

"Found out who Clapton was the year I turned Twenty-one
Switched jobs five times the year that Grandpa died
Never thought I'd miss you so , now I know your still the one
As I listened to Tears in Heaven I cried ...I cried
"

Just my thoughts

Hilch :?:

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

Hi Mike

Certainly a good start- chorus is well written. Problem with the last line of the first verse is it's not how we speak. That Iambic pentameter is usually more prevalent in poetry than in song lyrics and when it occurs in song lyrics it seems awkward.

Nice verse on the grandpa although I'd just make the second line something like

In the same year my grandpa died

Otherwise good stuff

It's all off the top of my head (and Lord knows there's not much left there... )
