Summer of Solitude
Summer of solitude
comes to an end
warm evening breezes
my best friend
Lingering days of sunlight
nights of magical moons
Summer of solitude
ends too soon
gray skies,
cool nights
a different rhythm
autumn's in sight
summer's leisure
and days in the sun
fall's about change
and being on the run
and in the days of summer
I'm warm in my cocoon
thoughts turn to fantasy
endless days of June
in my warmth and comfort
there's nothing I can't be
summer of solitude
summertime I'm free
leaves falling
gathering on the ground
summertime green
has turned to autumn brown
days ahead look bleak
ground turns to stone
I miss the warmth of summer
and being all alone
Summer of solitude
comes to an end
warm evening breezes
my best friend
Lingering days of sunlight
nights of magical moons
Summer of solitude
ends too soon
Hey Neil
It's been too long since I've heard one of your songs. Good to hear your soothing voice again.
I like the feel and the ideas of this, especially when the second verse kicks in and we get "a different rhythm" to go along with the lyric. I was surprised that you never returned to the original rhythm and picking, and maybe that's a good thing.
Only thing I might change (and it's a tiny little thing) is using "wrapped" for "warm" in the third verse, simple to avoid repeating the word later.
Looking forward to more.
Peace
Neil
Well done mate
I really this one alot
Trev..
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Simply great. Thats all I can say :)

Another Good One!
I tend to agree with David on the "Wrapped"/"Warm" thing but
other than that very good. You lyrics seem to be less rambling
on this one,more concise.
I think New Mexico is agreeing with you.

Hey Neil! I like this one - I love the maj7th and (I think) the odd min7 chords in there....and you say you're not a guitarist? Nah mate, you've got the knack of stringing chords together to make a nice tune....
"Good to hear your soothing voice again," said dhodge. He's summed you up perfectly there - and the voice suits the song pretty well....I want to be lying back in a hammock with a looooong cold drink while I listen to this....
You captured the "end of summer" feel beautifully....
:D :D :D

Hi Neil
Spot on for the assignment - a great lament of the passing of summer. MP3 is good as per usual and vocal style is spot on for this kind of song.
Great stuff
