SSG11-Week2 Pocky Stick Day

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=11992657

Chorus
Pocky Stick, Pocky Stick, Pocky Stick Day
Let’s share a Pocky box; what do you say?
Pocky Stick, Pocky Stick, Pocky Stick Day
You’re my special friend; it’s Pocky Stick Day

All you Northern boys; all you Southern girls
It’s Pocky Stick Day all around the world
All you Southern boys; all you Northern girls
It’s Pocky Stick Day all around the world

Let’s remember
Eleven November
Exchanging biscuit treats; oh, you’re so sweet
Let’s remember
Eleven November
Don’t you know how much you mean to me?

chorus

All you Western boys; all you Eastern girls
It’s Pocky Stick Day all around the world
All you Eastern boys; all you Western girls
It’s Pocky Stick Day all around the world

Open a box; I’ve been waiting all year
Open a box; now it’s finally here
Open a box; I’ve been waiting to say
I love, I love, I love, I love…............….Pocky Day

chorus

When we went to the Beijing zoo last year, we saw Chinese school kids lined by a man with what looked like at ice cream cart. They were buying "Cuttlefish on a stick" . At first I thought that might be the Pocky Stick you are referring to.

I had to look it up om Wikipedia but I'm glad to knbow that Pocky Sticks are different. Very cute song.

James,

Good Job! After checking out EWorms link it sounds like an English translation
of one of the commercials.

Hi MrEWorm,

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to post and explanatory link

Thanks, John. Yes, that's what I was going for.

Hi James

I love assignments like this because I never have a clue as to what's going to happen. Wonderful song!

The only suggestion I have would be to either drop of change the first bridge:
Let’s remember
Eleven November
Exchanging biscuit treats; oh, you’re so sweet
Let’s remember
Eleven November
Don’t you know how much you mean to me?

Specifically calling out November 11 seems more than strange. I get that it was the assignment date (as well as Armistice Day or Veterans' Day depending on where one lives) but it seems a distraction from the rest of the song. Surely there are better ways to frame the third and sixth lines.

Looking forward to more - not to mention who among us might choose to write about going cold turkey on cold turkey.

Peace

Indeed we do

Thanks, David for the listen and feedback and MrEWorm for the explanation.

Nov 11 looks like Pocky Sticks, so they use that date 11/11 and last year was a SUPER Pocky Day 11/11/11

James,
I like the effects, they go well with the mood and lyric. My brain kept hearing "pocky stick" as "hockey stick", that could be good though  .
