SSG11-Week20 Polly the Pretty Prep O' Sition
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12231920
I know a lass from the city of Dublin
Whenever she passes the nouns all come running
She leads a parade through the town making phrases
Polly the Pretty Prep O’ Sition
chorus
Above, below, on, beside
Nouns follow Polly far and wide
Over and under, in front of, behind
Nouns follow Polly the Prep O’ Sition
Polly the Pretty Prep O’ Sition
At exactly the precise time she’ll use the word “at"
At one o’clock let’s put on green hats
At sunset it’s time to call in the cats
At dinner we’ll eat until we grow fat
chorus
On days and dates she’ll use the word “on”
On Sunday, on Monday until the week’s gone
On March 17, On St. Patrick’s Day
Always use “on” on days and dates
chorus
In months, in years, in long periods of time
She’ll use the word “in” and sometimes it rhymes
In April, in spring, in 1909
In the Ice Age, in summer time
chorus
Polly Prep O’ Sition is never alone
Followed by nouns where ever she goes
Sometimes a pronoun will follow her too
They love that Polly and stick like glue
Polly the Pretty Prep O’ Sition

Did you ever watch any of the "Schoolhouse Rock" videos?
I'm on my cell phone today. I'll listen later.
Glad to see you back at it.
Did you ever watch any of the "Schoolhouse Rock" videos?
.
Yes, and I use them in my ESL classes. My long-term professional plan (which we are required to do at our school) is to publish something ESL related, so I've been working on a group of grammar songs bit by bit.
:D did you know that Pat Pattersen was going to talk about "Polly" and her other friends this week ?
good song
Paul
Hi Paul,
:D did you know that Pat Pattersen was going to talk about "Polly" and her other friends this week ?
Really? :o No. I hadn't checked it out this week yet....It's been a busy week, sick, report cards to write, a play to attend, soccer games this morning.....I was just checking in....I'll take a nap and then spend the afternoon with Pat (and I guess Polly as well  )
Thanks for the listen and post :D
James
James, I can't listen now, but I'm once again impressed with how you make language learning fun.
Renee
James, this is brilliant.
Patty's day . . . you captured the Irish flavor in your song.
That alone is an accomplishment.
And then the theme on Prepositions . . . your work coming through your play?
If it needed another verse (which I don't think it does) "O'er the rainbow" would be my suggestion . . . in search of the mythical gold . . . oh, and unicorns . . .don't forget the unicorns!
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Hi Renee and Ken,
Thanks for the posts :D :D
your work coming through your play?
.....seems so, here is where I post my growing list of Grammar related songs
....no unicorns there......yet
