ok, i don't have a full song to post yet  but i wanted to post something. i am trying harder this year to write something each week. i have so much other stuff going on that it is really hard to do this.

well the picture i decided to write about used to hang in my bathroom for years. now it is at my brother's house in his bathroom. it was a card taht my aunt sent to one of us that my mom had framed. it is three cats dressed up like men in uniforms standing in the bathroom with an old fashioned toliet with the tank up near the ceiling on top of a pipe. and the cats are smoking and there are cigarette butts on the floor. so this is my inspiration for this week. i was going to use the dogs playing poker but scratch did it first. i am glad he did, his is so much better than i could
ever do.

it is just a verse maybe i would make it the chorus, not sure until i write more. i might get it done on sun. right before i start thinking about the new topic.

Cow jumping over the moon
sheep helping people to sleep
while dogs are playing poker
three blind mice are busy
chasing the farmer's wife
bunny foo foo is hoping through the forest
the cat in the hat's to flashy
to hang with these cool cats.

not really sure what this is yet, but it is something none-the-less. hopefully there will be more soon.

There was no proviso in the assignment that specified only one song per picture. Last year, there was an assignment to do a song based on a book title, and I chose "East of Eden". Someone else opted to do the same title, and the two songs, though inspired by the same title, were vastly different. And both good. (if I may say so without sounding immodest.)
his is so much better than i could
ever do.
baloney.

Regarding this piece, I think it would work as a chorus. So long as you devote your verses to the cats in the picture. I'm not sure how,... maybe come up with a different description / scenario for each cat, based on the uniform? or something along that line perhaps? But build them up, so your chorus reinforces the notion that none of the other nursery rhymes / cliches that we've come to know and love can hold a candle to these guys. Am I making any sense? In short, I think you've got a great idea here, and could make this part work rather well. Now give us some verses so the chorus has a framework in which to fit.

hey scratch,
But build them up, so your chorus reinforces the notion that none of the other nursery rhymes / cliches that we've come to know and love can hold a candle to these guys. Am I making any sense? you nailed it right on the head. that is exactly where i was going to go with it.

hopefully i will get a chance to work on it more this week or sometime soon. i am happy that you were able to figure out what i meant from just one verse. :D

thanks.

Are the cats all in different uniforms?........theme could be a break from the war........

All in the same uniform?.....theme could be a moment's respite.....

All in the same uniform but different ranks?.....theme could be along the lines of officers and gentlemen coming together over a shared cigarette...

The possibilities are boundless!!!!

Like the chorus, the jokey motif sort of acts as a counterpoint to the uniforms....

C'mon, CT, show us what you can do .....

:D :D :D
