This is an interesting song for me in as much as the song is about a relationship but its not exactly the type of relationship you might think although it does use that as the metaphor. See if you can figure out what it is actually about. The song is played to a rock beat.

V1
He was destined for high places
The world lay at his feet
He grew up to believe that
He could be almost anything
V2
The u.l.t.i.m.a.t.e consumer
Shell use and then discard
She keeps him firmly grounded
He takes her breath away
Chorus
15 minutes of fame
Its all you get in this game
Make your mark and then your exit
Two lives in a moments transit
<musical bridge>
Chorus
15 minutes of fame
Its all you get in this game
Make your mark and then your exit
Two lives in a moments transit
V3
The game won't last forever
Another face with another name
He's left out of the picture
She keeps him in the frame
V4
Gone but not forgotten
They'll meet at another time
Their love will complete the cycle
Two parts in the story line
chorus
15 minutes of fame
It doesn't matter which game
15 minutes of fame
Give it up for what's his name
Paul,
Interesting ! I"ll take a stab at what it's about. Or at least give my
impression. It seem obvious that the larger theme is the fleeting
nature of fame but that's not all. What I'm getting is that "He" is
a celebrity on his way down and "She" is a paparazzi or maybe
even "The" paparazzi.
I'm probably way off but that's what I'm getting.
John
Hi Paul ol mate
My impression it is about the old saying :
"Everyone has 15 mintutes of fame "
I could be wrong I had my 15 minutes of fame a few years ago when I went on Television not for music though :( :( :(
question ?
The word u.l.t.i.m.a.t.e in the following line .. Is it spelt out or sang very slowly or even expressed louder ?
The u.l.t.i.m.a.t.e consumer
I like the chorus the last line of the chorus is a worry to me ... but I leave that there till I hear the song ..
Nice job Paul
Cheers
Trevor
Here is to you as good as you are

Hey Paul,
Good stuff. There are some brilliant lines in there like:
He's left out of the picture
She keeps him in the frame
I think the clue to understanding the song come in 'u.l.t.i.m.a.t.e', but I don't catch the reference.
Ice cream is a dish best served cold.
Thanks guys,
The song is about the relationship between natural things and Mother Nature herself. I found myself one day making a cup of tea stirring the tea bag round and round, and it struck me that the function of the “iceblock†stick (the stirrer) was completed in 15 seconds after which it was tossed in the rubbish bin. The tree from which it came probably took 20 years to grow and the stick another 2 -3 years to decay. After some time it may then become nutrient for some other growing thing. So the song is really about that cycle of life, purpose, decay and rebirth. The 15 minutes is just an abstract of 15 seconds although I guess cardboard packaging eg a burger box often only has a 15 minute functional life. The song itself was recorded by micing the guitar and using a sound-hole pickup at the same time to get the electric effect.
Cheers
Paul
In that case,
He takes her breath away
is an equally brilliant line.
Ice cream is a dish best served cold.
very good as always Paul, your explanation of the song really adds to it, i like how you were subtle in your references, good song.

See I told you I was way off.
I like the MP3! It sounds like something you would hear in a
David Lynch film. Although it also reminds me a bit of Bowie's
China Girl
Nice work on the guitar solo.
John
Nice work, Pbee. I like the guitar a lot. I enjoyed the song before I read the explanation, but after reading it, I like it even more. In fact, I think I'll go back and listen to it again. Well done.
