Hey gang, it's been a while since I've posted a song here, but I've been lurking, keeping tabs.

I hosted a charity poker tournament last weekend, and make the comment, when trying to decide whether or not to stay in the hand, "I ain't got nothing, but I ain't got much". As soon as it was said, the table knew that someone had to turn it into a song, and this week's assignment was the perfect time.

The Train Robber's Song
© Robert Gowland 2007

Well I know that he works for your daddy
And I know he can buy you a small plot of land
Someday you'll choose between cosy and happy
But I'll keep robbing trains until then

I ain't got much
But I ain't got nothing
I'm poor enough
To give you some loving

Well I know herding cattle ain't sexy
And a ring's worth far more than I make as a hand
But I swear someday I'll put a rock on your finger
So I'll keep robbing trains until then

I ain't got much
But I ain't got nothing
I'm poor enough
To give you some loving

Ice cream is a dish best served cold.

When my mind is free, you know a melody can move me
And when I'm feelin' blue, the guitar's comin' through to soothe me ~

Good simple clean lyrics, just the way I like it !!!!!! simple but catchy melody too, I can just imagine sitting on that ol' creeky porch swing on a hot summer evening with my mandolin in my 80's singing that one........ well done

"And a ring's worth far more than I make as a hand
But I swear someday I'll put a rock on your finger....."

Those two lines caught my eye and sucked me into the song.....

great wordplay, the rest of the song's okay, but doesn't quite match up to that imagery.....but hey, on the plus side (and it's a big plus) I loved the mp3 - nice chord progressions, especially for the chorus.....well sung, well played!!!

And maybe it could do with another verse....it is quite short....but those are only minor gripes, like I said, the MP3's great!!!!

:D :D :D
