Well, this is very rough. However, given the lack of posts this, I felt it was better to post something rather than nothing. We all seem to be very busy this week.
This song is supposed to tell the story of the Mayerthorpe Incident where James Roszko ambushed and murdered RCMP officers Peter Schiemann, Anthony Gordon, Lionide Johnston, and Brock Myrol. Roszko then killed himself. It is inspired by the recent deaths of two RCMP officers in the North, and the current crisis of problems the RCMP is experiencing.
This need alot of work, but here it goes.
Chorus
Peter Scheimann
Anthony Gordon
Brock Myrol and
Lionide Johnston
A police hating recluse
In Rochfort Bridge down the road
Violent offender hasn't paid his debts
Who new four horsemen would end up dead?
Chorus
A Memorial televised seven days later
Prime minister and governor general
Lead a country in its respects
Four dead because Roszko didn't pay his debts
Chorus
A routine procedure
Executing a property seizure
Who knew they'd be ambushed in a shed
Lay down their lives and Roszko's dead
Chorus
Now the Queen visits the academy
She remembers the men of Mayerthorpe
A service now in crisis
A commemoration underfunded
It's a good story line and the use of the mounties names as the chorus is good as a memorial - like Biko.
I've read it through a few times to try meter but I'd like to hear the tune.
You've rhymed the third and fourth lines except for the last verse - is that intentional?
Are you thinking of putting in a middle 8?
Nothing was "intentional"; I basically let my brain throw up onto the page and posted it here. It is diffulcult to sing for sure, so there is alot that needs to be reworked. Right now I am just happy to have finished a song for the week.
Dylan's Hurricane was the feel I was going for.

Like Ray said the use of the names as chorus is very fitting.
I also think his suggestion of a middle 8 or some kind of bridge
is a good idea. May be something about their families.
In some ways this reminds me of The Beatles "A Day In The Life"

This may not be your 'bag' but I had thoughts of a play on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse / finding something that rhymes with apocalypse. Also Riders of The Purple Sage seems to be close to serge. There again I'm a prog rock fan
