Here are some more first verses. Can't wait to see what becomes of some of them. I do have melodies for two of them, but I don't have access to my computer right now, so I'll have to post those later.

Anyone else find this to be a great exercise?

It's a defeatist's gesture - straycat

It's a defeatist's gesture
Deciding for you with precision
The rappier swift decision
Without the stench of effort

A grand defeatist's gesture
Like pounding precious metals
Forming thin mishapen medals
For fourth place finish hanging

Bap bah bap bee bah Bap bah bap bee bah - dhodge

Em D G G/F# G/E G/F# G/E
Bap bah bap bee bah Bap bah bap bee bah
Em D G G/F# G/E G/F# G/E
Bap bah bap bee bah Bap bah bap bee bah
Em Em/F#
There is a time, there is a time
G Am
When nations rise, when nations fall
Em Em/F#
There is a time, there is a time
G Am
When good men rise and heed the call

Don't blame me - kenrogers2

Don't blame me for how sharp you axe is
Don't blame me for death and taxes
Don't blame me for your feathers and waxes
Don't blame me for the time that passes

Don't blame me for thorn that pricks you
Don't blame me for phone you cling to
Don't blame me for the love you once knew
Don't blame me that you're living in an igloo

In a world that's ever changing - Celt

D Csus2 Emsus Asus4
In a world that's ever changing
D Csus2 Emsus Asus4
Turning inside, falling out
Em7 Em10 C
You hold me

(repeat)

I saw you walking in the sunlight - pbee

I saw you walking in the sunlight
I saw you pealing back the shadows
Bearing the promise of tomorrow

It's all I have to hold
To hold this rib cage open
To let the sunshine
Let the sunshine
Let the sunshine in

Ice cream is a dish best served cold.

So, David's wop-bop-a-loo-bop line becomes the trumpet call to arms at the start of the song. Nice one.

I like the igloo concept from "Don't blame me" too. Not often we see igloos mentioned in a song round here

I'd like to see what we do with Week 50 for the others. They're good introductory verses which could be developed into decent whole songs.

A :-)
