Firstly I have to say that I do like this song; I think the imagery you've used is excellent. I can just imagine a small, frightened little boy looking out through the slats of the pantry door. But there's something about this that been getting at me and its taken me a little while to figure out what it is, but I've got it now. The first two choruses when you talk about “They†I think your referring to your mother and the killer at the time of the event , but the line THEY NEVER KNEW ME conjures up an image of some other understanding of you, prior to that, not something happening now that will affect you in the future. (I hope I'm explaining it ok). This isn't about them; this is about you, so id change chorus 1 & 2 to this:

THE REALITY THAT WOULD NEARLY DRIVE ME MAD

The last line a sort of a prophecy.
I'd leave chorus 3 along, cos that is about your father and brother, the prophecy complete.

Pbee, the "they" refers to "father and brothers" who didn't know until many years later. Hence, "my own internal war," and "the dreams" (repressed memories resurfacing) which were caused by the "reality that nearly drove me mad." But luckily Grace was there, lol. As for her number, maybe I'll write it on the wall and it'll become a hit song. Thanks again, guys.
