This song is about the one thing about summer I hate the most. Sun Burns!!! Sun Burn is based on a trip to Hawaii when I was 11-12 years old and got a horrible sun burn the last day of the vacation. Further note: I thought it would be funny if the opening of the song was acoustic and when the verse/interlude with winter was done with a clean sound... sort of the humor for the song.

Sun Burn

Went to the lake
Swam the day away
Had lots of fun
In the summer sun

Now I'm hurting
Feeling that burning

Yeah, SPE 30 wasn't strong enough
I couldn't find better stuff
Makes me cry, gets in my eyes
Now I feel like I'm going to die

My face is killing me
Hurts to blink
Head hurts so much
It's difficult to think

Skin is red, on fire
Arms tender as can be
Don't touch me
When I recover I'll beat you down

My back is giving me insane pain
Just want to stand in the shower
Wash it down the drain
Passing away another hour

Now I'm hurting
Feeling that burning

Dreams of winter days
Now seem so long ago
The cold wind blows
There's snow on the porch
The sun only a dim torch

Now I'm hurting
Feeling that burning

My skin eventually pealed
Exposing a new fear reviled
Ruined my summer always
I never forget those horrible days

Everything is 42..... again.

Hi Ghost

This is actually a very good idea for a song using sunburn in a metaphorical rather than literal sense. With that sort of idea itbecomes notfar off a very interesting song. There's some excellent lines where the douible meaning shows through particularly well.

e.g.

Now I'm hurting
Feeling that burning

and

My face is killing me
Hurts to blink
Head hurts so much
It's difficult to think

Although my face in the first line could do with a bit of a rethink.

But it could be even more interesting to use the sunburn imagery with a burned out relationship or acute emabarassment theme and marry the two together.

Good start

Bob
