OK here we go again 4 th time lucky or unlucky I guess , which ever way you like to look at it ...

This is my 4 th attempt to post this and if it gets lost this time bad bloody luck I won't be posting it again I'll just move on ...........
It's about a WW1 (World War 1 ) digger in his twilight years ( as a old man ) Looking down on the ground looking very miserable , why who knows . I thought it was fitting with remberance day coming up ( I had this thought on Monday when I originally posted it ) Rememberance day kidddies is the 11-11 of any year and we hold one minutes silence for those who gave their lives fighting during WW1 and WW2 . History lesson over ....................... I called it Looking down , all replies welcome good or bad .. maybe this time I'll get to read them ...............

LOOKING DOWN

He's a old man now
With his head looking down
But it wasn't always like this
Years ago he was young and fit

The old photograph hangs upon his wall
Thoughts of his enemies why did they fall
He was twenty years old
When he returned there was no pots of gold

He's a old man now
With his head looking down
But it wasn't always like this
Years ago he was young and fit

The war is long over
The fighting in head won't keep him sober
He is struggling with his life
And the passing of his dear wife

He's a old man now
With his head looking down
But it wasn't always like this
Years ago he was young and fit

He's a old man now
With his head looking down
But it wasn't always like this
Years ago he was young and fit

Outro..............

He lost his friends and brothers
Now feels the heart break of his mothers
They say age will not weary them
But for him it's hard to keep L I V I N G
......................................................................
The word living sung slowly and drawn out with no music

hope it's not too depressing

cheers

L.K

Ahhh great, you managed to re-re-re-post......

I'l say what I said last time, this is a lovely tribute to those who gave their lives in WW1 and WW2....

Both myself and Alan Green picked up on the same line last time,

"Thoughts of his enemies why did they fall".....might look a little better if that was "Friends" or "Comrades", even "Brothers-in-arms" if it'd squeeze into the rhyming scheme....

I particularly liked the way you managed to quote half a Lawrence Binyon line, "They say Age shall not weary them"....

Great stuff, mate!!!!

:D :D :D

Hey there

very good song this I agree with Vic but how would you incorporate that line into your song ???

Friends and commrades why did they fall ....

mmm nice Vic that sounds very nice and I have to say it's a very moving piece espicially when his wife passes away

that just got me all choked up .......

Well done King ( is this why you are the King ?)

hilch

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

I wasn't sure if these were just typos, but you might wanna change "a old man" to "an old man" and "was no pots of gold" to "was no pot of gold." Otherwise, like the others said, nice tribute.

Joe

Hey LK.
this is great. I realy like this line
Thoughts of his enemies why did they fall
I like the fact that hes including the "other side" in his thoughts, which to me shows a maturity in him that he may not have had as a younger man, good stuff.

cheers

When I said you're not much older than Warne and McGrath, I was adding their ages together.... :P

just don't mention Rugby League for a couple of days eh....

Had the hair cut (I mentioned it in the coffee house post) but it's back to the same length, just a bit tidier....

And I'll go on record as saying Shane Warne is the best bowler I have EVER seen....

:D :D :D

Trust me Vic not a word about Rugby League mind you my smile is fairly big right now ( l o l )

Yeah when you mentioned those great crickters I thought you might be taking the Mickey again .. that's why I asked how old do you think they are 20 ?

20 + 20 =40 mmmm I'm only a little bit older then that oohhh like nearly 27 years that's pretty close ( ha ha ha )
