Keepin' it simple is what I was good at,
Just three chords and a riff.
Then I discovered F#m,
Came to me like a gift.
Keepin'it simple, I changed key,
F# became E.
A D and E became G C and D,
With Em for "Stand By Me."
Keepin'it simple, I found Am7,
A good substitute for C.
Then I found Dmaj7,
Opened up new worlds for me.
Keepin' it simple, I learned Freebird,
Added an F to my repertoire,
Bb was so tricky at first,
But with a bit of practise, wasn't too hard.
(Bridge)
I'm still keepin' it simple,
I'm a rhythm guitarist,
Though sometimes I play lead....
Though all my solos,
Sound a bit cliche'd,
It's still rock'n'roll to me.....
I'll keep it simple,
I'll use the same chords,
Maybe in a different key,
Yes I'll keep it simple,
And I'll buy a capo,
And hope someone listens to me.....

Just a fairly simple song, but after not writing for weeks and weeks and weeks, it's good to be inspired again....

I like this Vic
Well done in keeping everything simple its a harder than it looks thats why I cheated
Trev..
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
It reads away easily, I can almost hear the rhythm just by reading it!
Well done I'd say!
Heh, only thing I wondered is what you call F# (how you pronounce it)? In the Netherlands we call it fis, but that sounds a bit strange ;)

F# = F (pronounced eff) sharp......

Oh, this is fun!
The whole week 45 is now worth it because of the "lead" and "cliche'd" rhyme. It even beat out "repertoire" and "hard." Brilliant!
Can you play honky-tonk piano, Vic? That's all you're missing
Looking forward to more.
Peace
David
Good job Vic!
Reads good! I like it alot.
Did you really learn F#m that soon? :)
Happy writing, Gwynne.
Did you really learn F#m that soon?
Ha - I wish! No, it took me years to discover F#m - I just noodled about with a handful of chords for about 20 years. Anytime I came across a song with an F#m or a Bm or B7, I'd just transpose the song to a different key....keepin' it simple, you see! I am pretty good at transposing, though!

Good One!
I would suggest when you record this you throw in a nice simple Dylanesque harmonica solo.

Another good idea made into a great story that we can all relate too. 8)
Are you going to work all those chords into the music?
Cheers,
Chris

I seriously thought about it, but I did that once before with a song called "Second String" and I might not get away with it a second time! Besides, it'd make for far too many key changes - and I'm a great believer in keeping things simple! You never know though - stranger things have happened.
