Sally Says
Amaj7 G7
Sally says what you come around for
why you keep knocking, knocking at my door
Fmaj7 G
and why won’t you leave
why can’t you believe
Em Am
that it’s over
E Am
it’s over
Sally says that I’ve had my last chance
no more games and no more silly dancing
around what she needs,
no reason to plead
cause it’s over
it’s over
Fmaj7 G Fmaj7 G
what Sally says, Sally means
don’t argue with her there’s no in between
she has a broken heart
she wants a new start
Em Am
start over
E Am
start over
Sally says, don’t you call me on the phone
she won’t answer, she rather be alone
than in a romance
that doesn’t have a chance
it’s over
it’s over
Sally says, don’t come around no more
she’s reached her limit, don’t knock on her door
and there’s nothing left to say
I’d best be on my way
cause it’s over,
it’s over
Fmaj7 G
Don’t come here no more
don’t knock on my door
you’ve had your last chance
we’ve danced our last dance
don’t call on the phone
please leave me alone
Em Am
it’s over
Hi Neil,
Good start :D I like the range of notes you're using for the melody....and the mix of major and major 7th chords.
Suggestion:
Fmaj7 G Fmaj7 G
what Sally says, Sally means
don’t argue with her there’s no in between
she has a broken heart....maybe "I have a broken heart".....that way since it's not explained why Sally won't take him back, she can be more like a free spirit....love them and leave them.....and the singer doesn't explain why it's over, because he really doesn't know why....but he still wants to be with Sally.......
she wants a new start
Em Am
start over
E Am
start over
Thanks for sharing :D
James
Thanks, James. It's a perspective I hadn't even considered. Appreciate your point . . . . well taken.
Neil
I have to agree with James that the singer's heart may be broken, but it doesn't sound like Sally's heart is broken at all.
I realize that this is just a draft and not a polished recording, but the song could use some variety. Just adding an instrumental interlude would help.
Renee
Neil,
Yes, It is very interesting to have two such different takes
on the same concept. The one question I have is: Did Sally
keep the Mustang?
Good Job
John
Neil,
Hi. Mustang Sally reference aside, seems like it could be a bit of a rocker. Just wondering if you thought about using a bit faster tempo? Just a thought, take what helps, leave the rest :D
I like it. Sounds genuine. Is this the same Sally that went round the roses?
