WHATEVER HAPPENED TO YOU
where did you go where have you been all these years
what did you do, was it worth all the tears
can you remember everything that you said
would it matter, or is it something you dread
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
Every morning I think of you then
if you appeared, would we try it again
why did you do it, why did you turn and run
I still wonder after it’s all said and done
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
every time I think of you when we were together
my mood it turns to blue and I try to remember
the smile and laugh the simple things
the carefree days, the early spring
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
it’s still winter will the ice ever melt
will spring return, or do we deal with what’s been dealt
it’s getting colder you’ve been gone for way too long
why do I care, when everything you did it was wrong
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
where did you go where have you been all these years
what did you do, was it worth all the tears
can you remember everything that you said
would it matter, or is it something you dread
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
Whatever happened to you
whatever happened to you
Hi Neil,
Good start :D I like the vocal delivery and easy going feel of the guitar chords; though I am not sure they match the mood of the lyrics.
Consider trimming down the verses to focus in on the message and save the repetition for the chorus. Also, the chord progression could use more development for variety's sake.
Also, the song idea reads like the title could be "Whatever Happened to Us?"
Here is an example on the lyrics:
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Every morning I think of you then
if you appeared, would we try it again
the smile and laugh the simple things
the carefree days, the early spring
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
can you remember everything that you said
would it matter, or is it something you dread
it’s getting colder you’ve been gone for way too long
why do I care, when everything you did it was wrong
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Whatever happened to us?
Take or leave what you see fits.
Thanks for sharing.
James
I like it, Neil.
Nice beat, simple melody (I like simple) :D
I also like Jame's suggestions.
Maybe a combination of "you" and "us"?
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Varying the chorus lyrics as Jame suggested might be nice. I think having the chorus appear 5 times is a bit of overkill especially since he chorus consists of repeated lines. Maybe do 2 verses, chorus, 2 verses, chorus, instrumental, 1 verse and final chorus with the final chorus having the you, me and us endings.
Thanks all, especially James. Some good suggestions and a great deal of help.
Neil
