Na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na

Hi, Earth girl, my name is Jim
I come from outerspace I said with a grin
If you’re not psychotic let’s get married
I write purple prose but overseas
They call my writing pure poetry
But I haven’t written purple prose in a month of tomorrows

Now I’ve found you, my harmless muse
Let’s drive off in my Subaru
We’ll drink fine wine and feast on avocados
I’m really not a rebel no
And it’s sad to say unbelievably so
I haven’t done accounting in a month of tomorrows
But you inspire me to sing….

Chorus
Earth girls are easy; mostly harmless
When they sleep
Earth girls are easy; mostly harmless but…
Beware of their dreams

Well it’s not like ever Einstein you know
Can ride a llama and play banjo
I’m not bulletproof to your misconceptions
We stared at each other in consternation
With different meanings of celebration
As I rode a donkey in denim at our wedding reception

When you told the guests it was a harmless prank
I had all the lawyers in the world to thank
Nervous stares, repetitive nods, and whispers
They broke into a thunderclap
When I shouted, honey, I’ll be back
I’m going out for groceries
I’ll be gone about a century
And I was singing…

chorus

Hi James

Is there a reason the first verse is at a markedly different tempo and rhythm than the rest of the song? It works fine, but it just seems strange that once you hit the rhythm and tempo at the first verse that you keep it the rest of the way without going back to the original beat.

But that's truly minor compared to how enjoyable this is. I should know better than to suggest a limiting number when giving people options, but it's always delightful to see how people go over and beyond expectations. How can anyone not love a line like:
Well it’s not like every Einstein you know
Can ride a llama and play banjo

And I also love how it's easily up for debate as to whether it's the narrator or the donkey (or both) that's wearing denim.

I've got a hunch I'll be singing this one all week. Thanks!

Looking forward to more.

Peace

I think you answered the question: It works fine, AND it just seems strange; just trying to add some quirks to an already quirky song since the singer is from outer space

Thanks for the listen and post :D

Lots of points for using so many of the words on the list.

I think the change in tempo would work better if it wasn't so abrupt. A bridge would help. Even a few extra chords to work up to the new tempo.

Hi Renee,

It would be good for me to go back and try recording this with drums. That would force me to be more conscious of the tempo changes.

Thanks for the listen and post :D
