OK, I actually wrote this a few years ago, when I was away from home at Her Majesty's Pleasure - though what pleasure she got from keeping me away from my family, I can't imagine.....
Anyway, I was looking through the "songs to do" list last night, and noticed this wasn't there.....so I dug it out, and I've re-written some of the lyrics....
As for "sounds good and means something" - well, I kept humming the tune and rolling the lyrics through my mind all the time I was away, it sounded good to me.....and it meant a lot to me, got me through a very bad, low time in my life....

Life's about being disappointed, paying for your mistakes, and realising it's a harsh, cruel world - when you've got over the fact you're not going to be mollycoddled from the cradle to the grave, and someday you have to grow up and be responsible for your actions, and it's not all going to be handed to you on a silver plate, THEN.....you can start to enjoy yourself.

Working on it - got the acoustic guitar sorted and a bass line, wondering whether to use organ, and fiddling about with lead and a riff for the chorus.
Should have it done in a day or so.....
