hey. late again.. a potpourri of memories. here goes:

Monday Knight

A few blocks down the street there's a café
Named after a place that is only in ink
Where Monday nights are best spent alone
With songs of Sweden

I was staring at floorboards and ceilings
Waiting for the first note to stand me still
And paint the surface of each thing or being
When a door burst open

He wore his coat like armour,
Held his scarf like an anchor
And moved through the room
As a sleepwalker would

Then a bucket was tipped and colour streamed down a face and from a stage
Forming trees on the walls and creeks on the parquet
Well, I don't think he noticed

She was halfway through her second song
He ceased to roam and shook his head
She was halfway through her second song
His arm brushed mine as he turned away

And in this ocean of bodies
Alive for a heartbeat
He had the look of someone drowning
But he kept his hands down
He kept his head down

By the time her voice had died
I had heard the saddest sound
A door pulled close and colour cracked

especially the last bit needs tweaking.. well.
cheers,
straycat.

Hi
Very intriguing & mysterious song.
I love some of the lines:
Waiting for the first note to stand me still
And paint the surface of each thing or being
. . .
And in this ocean of bodies
Alive for a heartbeat

some I found hard to figure - though they sound good. . .
Named after a place that is only in ink
. . .
A door pulled close and colour cracked

The verses seem very varied in length (though I think you probably have the music in already in mind.)
I think it will be a lovely haunting song wth the right melody.

Is the title a clever pun or did you mispell (K)night?
Well done
Ola

ok then..

Named after a place that is only in ink
>> basically the café is named after "a place that exists only in writing/imagination" (and its name is Panam.. by the way.. well, of course, Panama exists, but there's a cute German children's book by Janosch in which the word Panama leads to dreams of a little paradise, if you will, and therefore the protagonists set out to find it which in the end they do, but they have to realize it's exactly at the place where they started their journey from.. so it's like "home is where your heart is"... or something like that.. )

A door pulled close and colour cracked
>> the door pulled close obviously is the man leaving, and (metaphorically speaking) a door closing is like a thing ending: a very sad sound. this sad sound interrupts the music and, thus, the beautiful colours that the songs have been pouring over everything get a crack.. well :)

it's actually difficult to explain :D
hope it was interesting anyway.

cheers,
straycat.

I understand.
I like the idea of music as colours pouring over everything.
Happy New Year :D
