EDIT - MP3 added Thursday April 3rd. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=225059
Bit of a cheat, this one - I was working on something new, but it just didn't work out at all.....but I DID find this in the oldies box, and wondered if it was worth resurrecting? (Resurrecting - religious topic - ooh, the brain cell's started working again.....)
I Never Believed
I asked but I never received,
Asked for truth, but I was deceived,
Maybe, because I never believed?
I prayed but no replies,
To all my pleas and cries,
Until finally, all my hopes died...
I screamed at you in my pain,
Till I felt I was going insane,
You rejected me, again and again...
There's only so much a man can bear,
Now I no longer care,
'Cause I know you're not there....
I asked but I never received,,
Asked for truth, but I was deceived,
Maybe, because I never believed?

Hi Vic,
Nicely done . . . . . and easy to relate to. I have this tendancy to want to change the order of things, though. The first verse, IMO, would work well as a repetitive chorus. And I'd wonder if, in the begining, whether you might want to hold back on your conclusions . . . . .
See if this makes any sense;
I prayed but no replies,
all my pleas, all my cries,
where does hope go when it dies
I asked but I never received,
Asked for truth, but I was deceived,
Maybe, because I never believed?
I screamed at you in my pain
you regected me, again and again . . .
Till I felt I was going insane
I asked but I never received,
Asked for truth, but I was deceived,
Maybe, because I never believed?
There's only so much a man can bear
realization that you're not there
Now I no longer care
I asked but I never received,
Asked for truth, but I was deceived,
Maybe, because I never believed?
Anyway, just a thought. When's the music comming?
Neil
Well Done Vic,
I think Niel has a good point there.

Took a couple of pointers from Neil, and re-arranged the lyrics slightly - and yes, the first verse would make a decent chorus, but that's not how I visualised the song - I saw it as kind of repetitive, but building, from a riff played on electric with no other instrumentation, drums and organ and bass joining in 2nd verse, another electric - playing the same chords, but kind of stabbed at rather than fingerpicking - joining in for the 3rd verse, another electric - playing powerchords - joining in for the 4th verse, and then just the solo finger-picked electric for the last verse......
Oh yeah - it's kind of a quirk of mine, I like to start a song with the last verse and then explain how I got there - tried it before a few times and (I think!) got away with it - sort of like how Tarantino mixes up the beginning, middle and end of a film, or how a lawyer makes an opening statement then expands on it and makes a closing statement....
I tried to record it, but - it's a tricky (well, to me!) piece to pick and play simultaneously - and it's now 00.47 am and I don't want to upset the dreadful neighbours.....been practising it for about an hour, and still haven't got it down to my satisfaction.....blame the once-a-week-saturday-night-drink.......
Oh well - there's the rest of my life untouched yet.....

The lyrics are fantastic. I hope we get to hear the song.

Ditto that
Looking forward to your post in Hear Here for that one, Vic.
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Thurs April 3rd - finally managed MP3 for this one. A bit tricky, as it involved playing the main riff all the way through on acoustic, then on electric but going from riff to solo.....
I haven't finished with this one yet, there's a few different ways it can go - I was thinking of strumming the acoustic rather than picking it starting at the third verse, then picking again for the final verse....
Anyway, for now, here's a rough demo..........

Well done, Vic
On American Idol, Tuesday Night, Dolly Parton said she "never had children so she considered her songs her children".
(BTW I hadn't known Dolly wrote I Will Always Love You made famous by Whitney Houston and used in the movie The Bodyguard)
Anyway, it is so neat to see a song created and birthed.
I personally think people are happiest when they are creating.
In fact I think it's one of the reasons we're here.
And sometimes the labor is probably painful (to stretch out that analogy  )
Does that make David the godfather of all the songs birthed on this board?
I'll shut up now.
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
