Hi!
Don't like my draft for the tattoo assignment at all so, before I'm off to Ireland, here goes at least my idea for the downside of a superhero career
sunknight of holy strawberry summers
a sunknight of the holy strawberry summers
and as such i dwell underneath wild berries and alder trees
battle the bees with my bare feet
and turn scarlet in the shade to hide in mimicry
from the mosquitos, and, no, my sword is no use against them
they're the downside of my profession
i am a seasonal worker
i spend the year in halves,
half in the city
and half in the meadows
a sunknight of the holy strawberry summers
and as such i swing my kite to greet my homophone as the stars bow
to our beautiful faltering falls
but curling up in sleeping bag darkness
i will admit my suspicions, my dread of the uninvited six-leggeds
who might or might not beat me malignantly while i am walking elsewhere
and discarding my armour, well,
they're the downside of my career
i spend the year in halves,
i count my wounds in the mornings,
spit on the scars at noon and then seek my shield of leaves
to lie low or laugh out like a sunknight of the holy strawberry summers
who's saluting the warmth despite mosquito swarms
Well, well... silly idea born on a trip to the Baltic Sea  And the thing with the sword is a quote from a post-it note in a Viking museum on the Swedish island Birka (you were supposed to write about what's Swedish for you and somebody drew a Viking, adding the clarification that his sword was no use against mosquitos- I am still fond of it :D)
Hope it made you smile :)
Cheers,
straycat.
P.S.: Promise to be around+comment more from the end of September onwards!

Straycat,
Nice whimsical fairytale feel. I enjoyed the read. :D
Thanks for sharing.

A very cool bit of writing.

"It took me about 20 years to figure out how to write without inspiration. Thankfully, I got there." - Leon Russell
Thanks to the both of you!
Love the word "whimsical" even though A. A. Milne came to detest it
