Don't need candles on this calendar day
I'll grade some papers; let the students play
Don't need to paint the town or have a shopping spree
You and the kids are enough for me
What's so special 'bout forty anyway?

chorus
10, 20, 30, it's all a blur to me
50, 60, 70 we'll wait and see
Thought by now I'd have something wise to say
But what's so special about forty anyway?

Hair line's receding; the rest turning gray
Got my creature comforts and my feet of clay
Turned in my Starbucks card for Earl Gray tea
Haven't made it to the Sea of Galilee
What's so special 'bout forty anyway?

chorus

40 days and nights things got out of hand
40 years of wandering to the promise land
40 years of wondering what it's all about
Give me 40 more years to figure something out

chorus

Wow, the forum has been pretty slow lately - over a week and still no one has posted on this (and it is still at the top). Well, it's good - nice sound, clearly connected in theme. Sometimes you're still squeezing too many syllables into lines and having trouble getting it out. Just simple stuff like:

I'll grade some papers and let the students play - (replace "and" with a comma)
Hair line's receding the rest is turning gray - (who needs an "is" anyway?)

Liked it! Don't change much.

Jeremy
