Y9W3 Channeling Captain Kirk

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9891883

I sail through black velvet skies
Align our planets tonight
Before my ship and I rendezvous
Let stars collide beneath me and you

I've come across galaxies
One kiss; you'll make me complete
Our love has gone super nova
I am your love struck Cosmic Casanova

Channeling Captain Kirk
Our Zerbees are in a quirk
You left Camila in a lurch
Zoranda Zilo just gave birth

Channeling Captain Kirk
Our female androids short circuited
The Quazell gell has all turned firm
A Romulan cloak won't work

Computer some Elvis if you please
Love me tender; love me sweet
Jettison hibiscus by the score
Boldly go where no man has before

I've got to be more discrete
My heart belongs to Star Fleet
Wait, don't beam me up, Scotty
I've found another alien hotty

Channeling Captain Kirk
Keechara swears you broke your word
Yula's kuppa weewa burns
The Leeja planet's on alert

Channeling Captain Kirk
The one who left his yellow shirt
The USS galactic flirt
The Klingons had you nailed, you jerk

That left me smiling. Great use of an existing melody that has always needed lyrics. I have no idea what all the alien references were about, I assume they were all words used in the TV series and/or movies.

Only some were....I am not a Trekkie and I didn't want to pour more hours into researching all of Kirk's exploits to find the female's names that rhymed etc.....I just defaulted and said the "real" names of the aliens are not used to protect their universal rights :P

Thanks for the listen and post :D

I like to use existing melodies. I did a song parody that used "Waltzing Matilda" for the music. I have 5 employees that are under 30 years old. The funny thing is they all thought I had written the melody.

Looks like there were lyrics already as well. I'm glad I didn't bother looking into them at first or my entry for the week would have been dead as Elvis himself

This article doesn't show Roddenberry at one of his finer moments.... ....but it does show the original lyrics

Hi Peter,
If you got one reference wrong, the real trekkies will hate it of course.
Of course....and they are a meticulous bunch. That's why I said the names were pseudonyms to protect the innocent  :P
James T (Kirk???)
 I guess there are worst things to be called

Thanks for the listen and post :D

Brilliant! Love the tracks. Creative lyrics.

Ernie

"All battles are first won or lost in the mind." - Joan of Arc

"It took me about 20 years to figure out how to write without inspiration. Thankfully, I got there." - Leon Russell

Very cool and creative.

I'd simply change this one:

Computer some Elvis if you please
Load song "Beyond the Reef"
Jettison hibiscus by the score
Boldly go where no man has before

to

Computer some Elvis if you please
"Love me tender love me sweet"

Would certainly work with the melody!

Peace

Far out! In general I like the track, although there are a couple of points where the use of non-English words might be considered a little overboard. I'll make no bones about it, I think you showed great enterprise in writing this, and although the production could use more phasers, the warp tempo made me kling on for dear life.

Thanks, Martin  Your post is quite lyrical and trekkie-drenched in itself

Live long and prosper :!:
