On the Conk Train
(Topic: Travel - not leaving or arriving, but during)
On the Conk Train, on the Conk Train,
We're jammed in on the wooden seats,
Four abreast.
On the Conk Train, on the Conk Train,
Riding down Duval Street
In Old Key West.
Every doorway has a clerk who's
Fishing in the human tide.
"It's half price on the T-shirts, folks,
Come on inside.
On the Conk Train, on the Conk Train,
Rental bikes and crowing roosters
Block our way.
On the Conk Train, on the Conk Train.
They crowd the streets of Old Key West
On Christmas Day.
Here's a place that's clothing optional,
You can come in as you are
To the Garden of Eden
Above the Bull and Whistle Bar.
Japanese are taking pictures
With their tiny mobile phones.
It's six bucks each at Haagen Dazs
For ice cream cones.
On the Conk Train, on the Conk Train,
There's Cuban music in the air
In Old Key West.
On the Conk Train, on the Conk Train.
I'm traveling to nowhere
With the man I love best.
Ah yes, Key West . . . right down the road from me.
Did you eat at Sloppy Joe's?
It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
Fantastic imagery, it's like we're in a film. And the Oscar for location, casting, dialogue, costumes, props, and writing, goes to.... wilhelmina!
+1 I like it :D Nice write!
