Well as I mentioned in Scratchmonkey's post Year 2 Week 41 was my first posting on SSG.
Since then my participation has gone from very active to not much at all the last couple of
years. I felt week 41 would be a good time to restart so here I'm am.
Not too firm on the the music yet but think Springsteen.
Glad to see some old friends and hoping to make some new.

Reservoir Road
Every night I still dream about her
But when darkness turns to light
I awaken to this lonely world without her
And wish I could slip back into the night
I remember in her arms she use to hold me
Even though it was many years ago
And I recall every secret that she told me
I hold them dear for no one else to know
Down on Reservoir Road
Down on Reservoir Road
Down on Reservoir Road
Reservoir Road
We would share our dreams about the future
I told all the sorrows of my past
She gave comfort without words love so sweet and pure
And I prayed to God this time it would last
When we were wed on that day in late September
I gave to her my heart my soul my all
To this day and always I will remember
Her eyes more beautiful than the leaves of Fall
Down on Reservoir Road
Down on Reservoir Road
Down on Reservoir Road
Reservoir Road
We built a home high upon this hillside
But a drunken driver speeding in the rain
Took away my love my life my bride
And left me here alone to fight the pain
Down on Reservoir Road
Down on Reservoir Road
Down on Reservoir Road
Reservoir Road
Oooh I like that repeating hook and the descriptive lyric, when you say think Springsteen are we talking "Thunder Road", "E Street Shuffle", "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out", "Does the Bus Stop on 82nd Street", "Streets of Philadelphia", "Wreck on the Highway", "Incident on 57th Street", "Out in the Street", "Backstreets", "Racing In the Streets", "Highway Patrolman" etc.... (ok that was fun) I'm looking forward to the recording.
I hear Springsteen too. Looks like it could be a winner.
Looking good. I'm ready to hear it :D
Hey John,
I'm not sure I'm real comfy with the amount of repetition of "Reservoir Road". Although that could easily change (and I suspect it probably would) if I heard it. Intonation, inflection, music, -- it's all hard to convey in text. I loved the line about her eyes more beautiful than leaves in Fall. The line is terrific as it is, but it occurs to me that you could play around with that a bit, -- given that both "leaves" and "Fall" could have double meanings in this context.
Enjoy reading your work again.
Best,
Thanks for the comments.
