Hi

I've been out of the loop here at SSG for a little while and almost
feel I should reintroduce myself there are so many new faces.

Welcome All I'm sure we'll get to now each other.

I suppose I should put up a disclaimer ala Barnabus about offending
anybody's religious or political sensibilities.

This is my take on the assignment and not meant to be taken too
literally.

Life In The End Times

I didn't come here to be a preacher
I don't need to save your soul
Don't look for me to be your teacher
I only know what I've been told

Read stories in the Holy Bible
Been tortured by the daily news
Heard of threats to our survival
Someone tell me something I can use

The Devil may have ambitions
But the Angels still have their wings
So pray another act of contrition
For the solace that it brings

I didn't come here to be a preacher
I don't need to save your soul
Don't look for me to be your teacher
I only know what I've been told

The Sun rays are burning brighter
As we fill the air with CO2
Be a terrorist or freedom fighter
Depending on which side should lose

The Devil may have ambitions
But the Angels still have their wings
So pray another act of contrition
For the solace that it brings

I didn't come here to be a preacher
I don't need to save your soul
Don't look for me to be your teacher
I only know what I've been told

Welcome back John

I was going to drop a line on my spcae to see where you have been hiding , oh well nice to see your back in the fold so to say ..

I was reading this and enjoying the read till I came across this

CO2 -- I really want to hear you sing that verse and make CO2 rhyme but since I have been around here you guys always do it so maybe I should not say anything till I hear it ..

Nice job John

Trev .. 8)

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am

Hi John

nice to see you back. I like the song, nice commentry on the world as it is.
The Devil may have ambitions
But the Angels still have their wings
So pray another act of contrition
If it's solace that it brings
theres is only one thing that I would change if it was mine, this:
The Devil may have ambitions
But the Angels still have their wings
So pray another act of contrition
For the solace that it brings
The reason I would do that is that the bulk of the song is about the wider picture and despair/hope at a high level, I think bringing it down to a personal level is nice. Acknowledging the the personal refuge (prayer) as opposed to questioning it, for me is a nice touch, and doesnt detract from the main theme of the song, which is a commentry on the world as opposed to commentry on personal beliefs.
Just my opinion

cheers

Paul

Great suggestion! I was struggling with that line anyways.

"For the" it shall be.

Deep… John. Very deep. I especially liked how you rhymed Bible and Survival
in verse two. I give you an A+ for that one, very clever.
Other than that it flows well, reads well. Overall, well written lyrics
Good to see you back
Blessings. Olav
