This one I've had hanging around for a long time:
Reservoir Road ( Springsteen :?: )
Just because it happens to be one of these:
October Nights
For my youngest Grandson Jaden by request:
The Cookie Song
And because the last time we did this I got a good response from a one word title:
Chartreuse
Reservoir Road
Speaks of lost teenage years being mourned after a la Steve Earle - Copperhead Road
October Nights
Lots of imagery to draw on here - nights closing in, leaves falling, cold days and colder nights, big fires - could go one of two ways to me - losing a relationship or growing old together
Chartreuse
Hmmmm! Not sure about this - green liqueur, could be interesting.....
The Cookie Song
Chocolate chips all round - good title for a kid's song this one obviously
Good stuff
Bob
You are what you eat, eat well
Hi John
Reservoir Road
Others are hearing Dire Straits or Steve Earl or Sprinsteen but for some reason I've got Buck Owens going on. Something lively with that Bakersfield beat...
October Nights
Harvest Moon and Moondance spring to mind immediately, but I'd also be very tempted to do something very jazzy, maybe along the lines of Moonlight in Vermont or Autumn Leaves.
The Cookie Song
I think I'll leave this one to local songwriter Joel Schick, although the idea of writing a song about computer spyware is appealing...
Chartreuse
I can see it now - John puts together a CD of thirteen songs, all titled Chartreuse... My contribution will be a bouncy bossa nova! Possibly purely instrumental.
Peace
Well it looks like I sparked some thought with Reservoir Road and Chartreuse.
That's Cool.
I love David's 13 song CD Idea.
That my become a Online Jams project someday.
John
Reservoir Road
Images of a country number here
October Nights
I think this one could be a rocker
The Cookie Song
A picked acoustic number for this one
Chartreuse
Another acoustic number for me, much on the lines of Jack Johnson's Belle.
cheers
Paul
Reservoir Road ( Springsteen :?: )
I've recently bought a Springsteen songbook, so that definitely rang a 'Bruce bell' there. A hint of the "drove my Chevy to the levy" from American Pie too perhaps. Not sure why but it also sounded like it could be a bluegrass song about running moonshine whisky.
October Nights
Because I once shared a flat with a guy who owned just one LP, which he played until the end and then put the needle back on at the start again... and it was Hot August Night... anything remotely suggestive of nights brings back a powerful desire to strangle a certain friend... Also October Nights means Springtime here, so I'd probably get the wrong image anyway. But *anything* nights can be made into a good story. So I'd want to hear it for sure.
The Cookie Song
Definitely a Sesame Street feel to this. Massed choirs of muppets. :)
Chartreuse
Either something in a "Hey Nonny Nonny" vein (medieval folk??) about brewer monks, herbs and rosy cheeked maidens. Or something cynical about impressionable girls, attempted seductions and monumental green-faced hangovers... :o
Cheers,
Chris

October Nights
The Cookie Song
Chartreuse
Reservoir Road - I definately here a narative in this title. What jumped out at me was Bob Segar's 'Night Moves" Could be linked to the next title.
October Nights - This song could be another narative. "You know what happens in those October Nights"
The Cookie Song- Well, you almost HAVE to go with a Sesame Street feel for this one. "My mom gets the cookies and puts em in the jar, I take one out and make believe its a star"...
Chartreuse - Wow. This is a tough one. This sounds like a jazz piece to me. Along the lines of an Al DiMeola kinda thing like "The Rite of Strings"
Teamwork- A few harmless flakes working together can unleash an avalanche of destruction.
October Nights - Reminds me of Hollywood Days. What does one do to keep warm dudring those cold October nights. a romantic song.
The Cookie Song - Who was it that wrote that song about toes? sort of like that.
October Nights, a ballad about baseball
Reservoir Road, all about dark country lanes and headlights on the side of the road catching glimpses of spooky things you can't really see. An urban folklore song.
Nick,
Great idea for October Nights. I wasn't thinking of that at all.
You nailed what I was thinking on Reservior Road.
John
Reservoir Road
I'm hearing a drinking song here, picking up on the word reservoir ... 'we had our fill up on reservoir road'. A bitter-sweet look back at crazy youthful days? Now feeling unfilled?
October Nights
This one is tricky since October will mean so many different things ( especially for those in the opposite hemisphere from whoever is writing the song ).
The Cookie Song
There's an electronic-ish artist named Riley Armstrong who did a song called 'Banana Bread' where he got his mom to record herself reading a banana bread recipe and he laid it over top of a bouncy, Sesame Street-esque beat.
Chartreuse
For some reason I was thinking of this as a girl's name. I had to look it up. Maybe it still works... Chartreuse the barfly?
Ice cream is a dish best served cold.
Don't forget "Chartreuse the Masseuse"
Peace

The Cookie Song
Could do a pun on cookie (for the IT crowd) about funny little files that clog up your hard disk and spy on you.
Just a thought . . . :)
“Poetry and Hums aren't things which you get, they're things which get you. And all you can do is go where they can find you.” - Winnie the Pooh
i'm all for "the cookie song"! liek i read in a poem once "warm cookies and cold milk are good for you". i firmly believe in that :D
"October nights" is thought-evoking, too.
i just had "october swimmer" by jj72 reveberating through my head
.. well.. darkness.. tree tops.. window-dreaming.. candles and sitting on a wall sourrounding a park.. sitting at the tram station.. streetlights..
oh well..
as for bruce sprigsteen.. i recently saw björn kleinhenz perform "thunderroad"... amazing...............
cheers,
straycat.
