I found out that I have cancer (renel cell carsanoma, I stink at spelling) in my right kidney and they have to remove it. They think that they caught it early and they say I should be fine after.

I'll know more this Wednesday after I talk to the surgen and I'll keep you all updated.

Not that the ESD has been busy but, I wanted to let you all know anyway.

Mike

Mike - I'm glad they caught it fairly early. Best of luck with this.

Where in New England are you? We know lots of doctors and hospitals...

MIke,

Both my neighbor (who's about my age, early 50s) and my father (in his mid-70s) were diagnosed last year with kidney cancer and underwent surgery. They're both now healthy and free of cancer. I thought you might appreciate knowing that.

When is your surgery?

Tim

Thanks guys.

Laz, I live in Rhode Island. If I go to RI Hospital, I'll have to make sure I write on my body which side they need to operate on.

Tim, thanks. I've been told that I am lucky to have caught it early. I'll find out this Wednesday when the surgery is.

Insult to injury, I just found out my grandmother pasted away this morning.

I can't wait for 2007 to be over with!

Everything has been an uphill battle ever since I turned 30. :?

Thanks again everyone!

Mike

Look on the bright side - they caught it early and it's repairable. I'm sure you'll come through with no long term problems.

Why is Xmas a time for such dramatics? Marriages break up, serious illness is diagnosed and family members/friends die. One would have thought the opposite would be true - that the world would call a truce for a few days. It seems just that bit harder to take, so close to such a festival.

My sister-in-law's mother is back in the mental hospital - she completely loses her mind (it's not one particular thing, it's as if her brain scrambles). Brian (her husband) visits 3 times a day, but she refuses to talk to him. Last time she lost it, she tried committing suicide. Give it a couple of months and she'll be back to normal again. Both "turns" have come shortly before Xmas.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

I always thought that its due(at least partly) to the stress of the holidays. We always admit a lot of ETOH, suicide attempts and drug overdoses to the hospital this time of year

And on the depression front, it's right at the winter solstice, with the shortest daylight period of the year.
