Hi folks,

I wondered what folks were thinking about this. I think Ken's idea of transforming "Hear Here" into "See and Hear Here" makes sense since that lets members post links to videos of themselves.

I'm much more ambivalent about a general video forum though. Having video links moved into O&P seems fine now. I worry about encouraging general posts to video links for two reasons (both of which may be ill founded):

1. Forum proliferation (it's getting harder and harder, I think, to keep tabs on things)
2. A general video forum might lead to a proliferation of video links, not all of which might be cricket, on topic, and suitable for a general audience.

Just my thoughts at the moment.

"See Hear Here" makes the most sense of the suggestions so far. A dedicated video thread page makes no sense - since people are often posting videos as examples for questions or as explanations for questions, how on earth are they going to tell themselves "wait a minute, there's a thread just for videos?" Folks are having a hard enough time now getting things into the right section or in the right thread in the right section (as seen in the ESD).

But the "See" part of "See Hear Here" (or "Now You See Hear Here") has to conform to the current guidelines of "Hear Here," that meaning self-produced.

Just my thoughts.

Peace

I agree, I think we are right on the cusp of " seeing" more home brewed videos from forum members( much like we have seen the use of mp3 files spring up over the last few years) and thats a good thing IMO. Also Tim has a good point..Quote:"I'm much more ambivalent about a general video forum though. Having video links moved into O&P seems fine now. I worry about encouraging general posts to video links for two reasons (both of which may be ill founded):" We are seeing more posts of video clips lately, mostly 9 year old shredders and "prodigy's" that have brought with them some interesting and sometimes lively discussions  But for the most part every one is behaving ( even young Arjen has matured a little in his discussions.---ken

If we were to do something like this, it would have to be written in letters 10 feet high that there are to be NO links to videos, created by others, particularly copyright material. Otherwise it'll become a "have you seen this great vid of a 2-year-old guitarist, playing Steve Vai and Beethoven simultaneously, whilst his mother changes his nappy" forum.

Perhaps 10 feet may not be enough for some members................... :?

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

How about "See Me, Hear Me"

There's a song by that title, can't remember who did it though.

oooh, I like that. Let's just make a promise we don't expand the title any further though.

Wasn't it "See me, feel me" from Tommy?

Alan

Yeah, that was "see me, feel me, touch me, heal me...." Great song.

I thought of that too. But there is a song called See Me, Hear Me also, still can't remember who did it though.
