I think Martha Wainwright (daughter of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle and sister of Rufus Wainwright) is such an outstanding "newcomer" that i almost started a whole thread off just for her. :D
If you like Beth Orton, Kathryn Williams, Joni Mitchell, Natalie Merchant... then you will love Martha...
Two of my favourite singers (I listened to a lot of folk-rock in the late 60's/early 70's, once I got into Dylan) were Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.....JM uses a lot of exotic tunings......
And hey what about Dolly? Anyone with 6-inch talons who can fingerpick deserves a few kudos.....
:D :D :D

Not R&R but has anyone heard Charo play? She is an amazing classical player and studied under Segovia (Unlike Esteban who just had his picture taken with the Master)
Immature? Of course I'm immature Einstein, I'm 50 and in a Rock and ROll band.
