Just curious - how many of you ladies (and there are more than a few of you here now!) play slide guitar? What tunings do you use? I know Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell use open tunings - open D and open G - but apart from Bonnie Raitt, I can't think of a single female slide guitarist.....
So - enlighten me? Tell me I'm wrong? I'll be glad to be proved wrong.....
:D :D :D

I can't think of any either Vic but you might want to check out some Bluegrass/Gospel people. I've seen a few women that play slide at church events.
I love the way the slide guitar sounds and I would like to learn someday.
All my life I wanted to be somebody. Now I see I should have been more specific.
Didn't Barbara Mandrell (or one of her sisters) do slide? I seem to recall watching the Madrell show as a kid and I thought one of them did, but maybe that's my imagination. (Probably too much Hee Haw!)

The solo of this song is played using a slide in Drop C.

Rory Block plays slide and I think Susan Tedeschi does as well.

I love Kittie, I think they're awesome. Too bad that solo wasn't longer :D
Can't think of anyone other than Rait really. Wouldn't call myself a slide guitarist but I do love the sound. I love Elmore James so I dabble in slide a little bit. Also Robert Johnson's Cross Road Blues is played slide and I have "attempted" it a couple times, didn't have the focus to learn it the whole way through.
It's not easy being green.... good thing I'm purple.
I saw Cyndi Lauper on tv the other morning and she was playing slide while singing the song True Colors.

I knew Cyndi Lauper played the dulcimer, but the slide guitar, too? I have a lot of respect for her as a musician, even if I'm not a fan of her music.

Hmmm, maybe I'm wrong about what she was playing. I was just passing by the tv and didn't really get all that good of a look, so don't take my word for it. The instrument did look kind of small, so maybe it was a dulcimer.

I've seen her play a soprano recorder as well.
