What happened to the Coffee House forum? I personly liked it because it held off topic threads, maybe not totally related to guitar...It was nice as someone new to the site, seeing who was who...what was what...
Just curious :)

We CAN make a diffrence!
We tried the coffee house as an experiment and decided not to keep it. It's a very difficult kind of forum to moderate. Threads can easily, and sometimes quite unintentionally, veer off track in unfortunate ways. Typically you don't see that unfortunate side because the moderators have cleaned things up or removed offensive posts before you see them. We've also discovered that the open discussion tends to attract a few trolls.
It's a lot of work and there are many other forums where those discussions do take place.
And, in the end, GuitarNoise is focused on music and guitar. Those are the things which bring us here and which have resulted in such a remarkable community of musicians sharing time on the boards. Maintaining that focus is part of what's distinctive here compared to many other guitar boards.

Makes allot of sense...
I've been in forums with tons of off topic, often lewd content...I guess thats what makes quitarnoise such a comfortable envirement :)
Thanks for clearing it up,
RD

Me three. Coffee house was nice some of the time.. but alot of the conversations got really ugly too. Even though we still get off course without a forum for it.. for some reason it seems to stay more civilized.

Maybe that's why i started 'general' forums named 'Artist Forums'...
Coffee house was fun , but , i know how hard it can get to moderate and to explain it in 'text' to the concerned person whose post/topic has been removed.
As much as I liked the coffee house, I have to agree :D I think it caused some Ill feelings and distracted us from our main purpose here... guitar playing, learning and creating music :D --the dog
