John Fallon at the Tinderbox Café, London

Here’s a guy with an average voice playing a guitar in a café. Nothing else. No frills, no accompanying musicians, no half-dressed girls. Just a guy and a guitar. What does he need? Great songs.

However, John Fallon goes a cut or two above the great songs. Here’s a guy who can really write fabulous song after fabulous song. And present them in such a way so that you don’t need the frills to realize what you’re listening to. In all honesty, I’d love to hear these songs done with a full band, but it wouldn’t make them better, just different.

Fallon has to be one of the greatest songwriters I’ve ever heard. Now’s the time to encourage him; before the majors pick him up. Then again, I’m not sure they’d be able to recognize him for what he’s worth. But don’t let that stop you from buying this album, there’s just no way you can be disappointed.
