Into the Arena

To kick off their new European tour, Arena, oddly enough, played to North American dates. The first was Québec City, where they’ve played many times before, the next was their first ever presence in Montreal.

Because this was a test of the waters, so to speak, we can forgive them for having played at the wrong… arena. The show was presented at the Café Campus’ Petit Campus, a room which fits in about 200 people quite comfortably. However, Arena could have easily filled this venue several times.

But despite the overcrowding, the fans were enthusiastic at finally getting a chance to see this incredible band live. Clive and the boys were in great spirits and it showed! Starting with several songs from the new album, they nevertheless ran through the scope of the band’s career, with a couple of nice stops at The Voyager. All in all, a great show performed by top-notch musicians who obviously enjoy giving their best at every moment of every performance.

Now the boys are off to Europe for 15 more shows. Check out the dates at www.verglas.com and make sure you don’t miss them. After this short tour, the guys are going back to their respective projects and might not come back as Arena for another year or more. The show is certainly worth seeing and the music is as great as ever.
