Well, I've just bagged a nice looking Seagull S6+ Folk on ebay for just over €150 (currently about $180) - most places seem to sell Seagull here for well over €400 ($490) - if you can find one, that is.
I'm just now nervously waiting it's arrival to see whether I've bought a turkey or a gem.
It's also my first real acoustic.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Best of luck with your purchase, lets us know how it works out, and how you like the segull. I've heard nothing but good things about this guitar,
Many say for the money it's a good as any, and at 180 it sounds like you got a great deal.
TCB...
I tried a couple of Seagulls out in a guitar shop on Friday - so I know what to expect of the guitar - it's just whether mine is up to par (although I've no reason to think that it isn't)
5 hours since I won it - it's already an eternity!!

I think you'll find it a gem. Spruce tp or cedar?
Peace

good deal there.
I really like them. I don't own one anymore, but they are great acoustics for the money.
Did someone take the pick guard off that or is it a clear color pick guard?
Nice guitar Greybeard! You'll have to get back to us on it's sound. I've heard of the Seagull's but never played one.
That looks like a clear pick guard. I have the S6 Cedar (only left handed, naturally  ) but it's the "folk" model and there is no pick guard at all. You're going to love this guitar! It's the one I've been using in all the (acoustic) MP3 examples this past year.
Peace
If it is in proper condition you've got a killer-deal! I tried one of them a few days back, and it was both very good and, for me, very expensive. Don't forget to take the time to write a quick update when it comes in. :D
I'm not sure about writing an update as soon as I get it, I'm going to be busy strumming. Have no fear, the next "Guess that Riff" will be an acoustic offering (I'll have to work on some sort of interface to my PC).
I'm learning "Tears in Heaven" on my lecky rather than bite my fingernails, waiting for it to arrive.

She's arrived!!!
No worries at all. It's obviously been played, but sounds good.
Looks nicer than in the pics - just need to practice now (fretting is 10x harder than a lecky guitar and 100x less forgiving)
Reckon I'll have sore fingers tomorrow. :)

Cool! Have fun and break a callous!

If the new Seagull is that much harder to fret than an electric, you should seriously consider taking it to a luthier and having a good setup done on it.
My acoustics are harder to fret than my electrics, but even my 12 string doesn't take as much as twice the force to fret. The difference in my six string is simply the difference between 10's and 12's.
Take it to a luthier - you'll be amazed at how easy your acoustic can play.
Playing guitar and never playing for others is like studying medicine and never working in a clinic.
May I ask how many millimetres above the frets your strings are say at the 12th fret, Moonrider - I've been thinking of getting the action on my acoustic lowered but not sure if it might wreck it, thanks. I just measured mine and it's about 4 and a half millimetres at 12th.
Good buy Greybeard, good luck playing it.
Thanks, Violet.
The 10x/100x was how it felt the moment I got hold of it (I've been 100% electric up to now).
It gets easier, but will still take some time getting used to. Finger memory tells me to press lightly on the strings, when I should be giving it some more pressure.
Very nice neck and the sound is really full and round - I'm going to see if I can get to the guitar shop today and buy a new set of strings for it.
