When I'm playing my guitars, I can't read the brand name on the head stock. I was playing my Agile AL2000 last night and as far as I was concerned it might as well have been one of my Les Pauls. I was equally content with the sound and feel of the instrument. When I got my first Gibby, I was so proud of that gold Gibson logo and Les Paul's signature there on the head stock. It doesn't seem so important now. My first Les Paul copy was a Bently. I was so ashamed of the logo I scraped it off and filled it in with black paint. I was 20 years old. I did a lot of stupid things when I was 20. Not to worry though. I'm still pretty sure I haven't grown up yet. I'm just getting wiser.

When Ii play my Squier Custom Tele, all I can see at the back of the headstock is "Fender." If you like the guitar you're playing - the feel, the sound - does it matter what's on the headstock?

I can play a high-end guitar and make it sound like crud.
Then there are folks I know who can pick up the lowest el cheapo model and make it sound pretty darn good. :D

I know guys with Johnson resonators like mine who've gone to great lengths to convert the headstock to a slotted type, and some have put National decals on them.
Not me. I'm proud of my Johnson.

I've seen pics of Ric's Johnson. It is impressive to say the least.

I have $ 150 Oscar Schmidt and an expensive American Deluxe Strat. A lot of the time people say they like the sound of the Osar Schmidt. I have a friend that is an awsome guitar player, it doesn't matter what he plays, it always sounds great.
I remember trying out an effect at a music store using this fairly expensive (about $700 or so) hollow body and i thought to myself: this sounds almost exactly how my $200 strat copy sounds (minus the annoying feedback from the hollow body). It sure did look nice though

Funny, I was actually thinking of covering up the logos on my equipment. I'm not sponsored by any of them so why would I want to give them free advertising on top of spending money on them?
Just a little thought. ;)

I remember seeing a bar band yeaaaars ago, who had modified the names on the audience-facing side of their keyboards.
One became rolaid and the other was poland .
I believe the "modification" was done with black tape.
Also, I remember seeing a lot of bands who had blacked out the Peavy logo on their amps, just 'cuz they're too darn big 'n shiny.
I wrapped a newspaper ’round my head
