If I had some money to throw around, I'd want to get it, but alas, its not happening anytime soon. I'm sure it sounds terrible. I don't know what the body is made of, but there is barely enough to cover the pickup and control cavities. How a good sound could possible be made from the guitar is beyond me.

That thing must have a really poop tone.

Umm, with most solid body guitars, the shape has only a little to do with the tone. I am curious about the post that connects the neck to the body.
And it's easy access to the 24th fret 8)

True but in this case since there is very little body there the sustain must be next to nothing.
That's what I was thinking. Little mass to allow for any sustain.

If you think about it, it looks a little like a modification of the various travel guitars or "silent" guitars that are on the market these days. Nick brought one up here recently and I was suprised at what a good sound it had when it was plugged in. You obviously don't get some of the nuances of the full solid body electrics, but most people wouldn't hear much of a difference.
On a total side note, I saw an electric oud back in Chicago that was made in the same style. General body shape instead of the snake, of course. I think an electric "snake oud" would be very cool.

At least you'll know where the hissing is coming from.

I doubt sustain is that much of an issue. I don't really think the wood mass is substantially less, if it is proper wood and the guitar is put together in a nice way there shouldn't be too much of a sustain-hit. And then still, as long as it isn't too insane you can increase sustain in various ways without being too plastic.
Ah but looks like JT did put the shark into production
