There's so much conflicting advice! My bandmate swears that he's been told that heat should never EVER be used in cases of possible tendon damage.

Sorry, you said stiffness. If you have a damaged tendon your friend is right. Cold is good for tendonitis. Heat is good for stiff muscles. Sounds like a doctor visit might be a good idea for you.

That's just it, I don't really know whether it's just stiffness or what! I'm working on seeing a doctor, because there are so many conflicting advices...

we are not doctors, TR is. all we can offer is anecdotal advice. go see a real doctor or sports medicine doctor. I did for something similar. all is fine now. I dont abuse anti inflamatories, but do swear by their effacy when used correctly.
heat and cold and warm ups are all part of my regime as I play harder and grow older.
be safe, be smart. get expert diagnosis.

Oh ..... TR's not a doc either ... I'm a Registered Nurse. Have been for 24 years so I know a couple things but I've been in critical care for the past 22. Orthopedics is a little foriegn to me. Sorry for any confusion.

We've got a short gig tomorrow night, and after that we're taking the first week in December off, to rest ourselves and to give my hand a chance to rest up. Hopefully that will help some. In the meantime I'm working on seeing a doctor, doing a lot of research on the web, and practicing up on the piano just in case. :)

when I worked as a orderly in surgery I had spent many hours in CCU and ICU. the nurses all were top notch pros. they had so much compassion and knowledge. plus they were all cute.
so what happened to you!??? :P

I just thought of something Dogbite ....... when I first started working in ICU the nurses were all cute, but after working with them for 22 years they have aged ...... they are grandmothers. Cute grandmothers though! Ahhhh, the perks of working with women.

getting out of bed before daylight to go to OR was hard sometimes. the scrubs I wore often felt like pajamas. that made it easier. sort of like a dream; me in pjs with the nurses. back then , male nurses were pretty rare. a good thing.
and true, we, they, all have gotten older and exhibit the result of that.
cute but no longer pretty.
